@brjhaverkamp @luis-bustamante I actually printed the tree frog last night! It’s on normal in purple and pink XT and it took 13 hours.

@luis-bustamante IMG_3012, IMG_3017 show a stuttering pattern. This is in my experience underextrusion associated with a mesh error such as flipped triangles or an open mesh.

@click I actually found that the PTFE foot didn’t do much if anything for the noise or geometry. I used a 0.020 inch self-adhesive PTFE strip. It didn’t change the noise much and wore out after about 2 weeks and just came off under the bed. So I don’t know if it would be worth using. I think the grease would make the problem worse as it will catch…[Read more]

@luis-bustamante There’s no reason you won’t be able to print the tribofilament, we have a sample here too (untested), but I must admit I’m struggling to find a reason to use it. I can understand it being used for low-wear parts such as sliding pads/feet etc. but I don’t think that FFF really has the potential to produce anything more than…[Read more]

@luis-bustamante It looks like you are getting some underextrusion. Have you checked the model for flipped triangles?

@luis-bustamante also… I believe colorFabb/Eastman are working on a dissolvable filament suitable for their range of CO-PET 😉 - as one of the only machines capable of real dual material printing (if not the only!), a DM Robox is currently in the colorFabb test lab for testing their latest material formulations…

@luis-bustamante I can’t admit to having tried HIPS, but as Ben said, PolySupport is unfortunately not suitable for CO-PET. One thing I do know for sure is that XT/nGen are not affected by limonene, so should be good for cleanly dissolving away, just not sure if the CO-PET will stick to the HIPS. One thing you will definitely need to change to…[Read more]

@luis-bustamante I can’t tell you what to use, but I can tell you PolySupport does not work at all well with nGen or XT. For some reason, the PET filaments don’t like to stick to the support material. I would probably suggest using HIPS or PVA and designing custom supports to give you flat surfaces to print on.

Take a close look at the inner top of the windows with a microscope or loop. Now take a look at the bottom of the windows. The inner bottom of the window shows the quality of your 3D printer. The top side shows the act of gravity, this also affects nearby parts of the model.
I cut of the roof of the model I printed so yo can…[Read more]

@luis-bustamante Let me know how you get on with FilaFlex. I tried it the other day and couldn’t even get it to the head. Any hints?

I general I like the idea of a benchmark model. For this model I have to agree with Pete, do not waist any filament on this model. I downloaded the model and took a look it, and saw that this it a bad model design to print without support. To show the problems with the model I printed it with AM 1.3 and the single…[Read more]

Thank you for the story and the images. Nice preperation before my dual head arrives. It is a half redesign of the robox. I think that it is good that CEL took some time to engineer and test these parts. It is often harder to redesign parts of a machine than to build a complete new one. Thumbs up for CEL, of course if it works ;-).

@luis-bustamante Thanks for sharing.
Wow,i didnt realise the number of parts that were being upgraded. Its nearly a new printer. I wonder how much difference this will make to the print quality. I think you should be able to call your printer an Robox++ after this.

@luis-bustamante CEL told me to add a small zip-tie between the two Bowden tubes. I haven’t played with it enough to know if it helps, but you have to be very careful not to crush the Bowden tubes and to make sure the tubes can move freely.
