It is worth getting samples of water soluble filament as well…

I’ve got a Cura cake! 😀 I think it was version 2.7…
@pete - by toys are you talking about new water soluble filament or inkjet multicolour printing?

Interesting nobody made it as an add-on for regular 3D printers yet. Something similar to that box that recombines different (differently coloured) materials on the fly.

“Main question for now: Can I put the PEI sheet in the dishwasher tonight?”
I don’t think that dishwasher is going to do better job than you manually washing it and re-sanding it. (or maybe better the other way round)

By challenge I was thinking of it being designed it in such way that it can printed to keep it s strength - especially at the top. And having in mind which orientation for it to be printed so it produces the cleanest print (as your is!) and still maintain strength…
That’s why I am so keen to see it being firmly screwed to side of a cob 🙂

No matter how innocent this print looks - it is quite a technical challenge. That’s why I am keen to see it working. 🙂

But season for sweetcorn is now, is it not?
I’m looking forward first, proper, empirical tests! 😀 (with pictures if possible, of course)

Looks like a nice clean print. What is orientation you’ve printed it on? And - did you give it a go? Is it strong enough to screw into the cob?

It would be interesting trying it out again on completely independent Robox but *same* print job. If it is doing the same then another thing would be try printing exactly the same project using Slic3r… I have some suspicions that it might be some odd artefact of post-processing… I suspect @pete didn’t see the same issue as he didn’t print…[Read more]

Shame CEL dismissed Benchy as it was really good tool to fine-tune post-processing and now what needle valves are there for. For long extrusion paths retraction seems to work quite well these days and current state of hardware with current state of slicers do handle it quite well on other printers. Dual materials and short paths are those some…[Read more]

I am with you there - I don’t think it is directly a hardware issue. Maybe even not Cura as much as post-processor - given it is not really a simple problem to solve given hardware constraints(*).
(*) handling of ‘ejection volume’ material while closing needle valves. Now I am thinking about it - it almost seems that amount of filament in nozzle…[Read more]

I am curious to compare final (normal? fine?) print (if you are in position to share the pictures) with this draft. On this print is seems that Robox is still struggling with short extrusions as needed in prints like this…

Hi @nebbian, on the video you posted left nozzle was extruded first and then right. Also, left nozzle extrusion went slightly upwards and when right nozzle was extruded it picked material that left nozzle deposited and pulled it out. Maybe it is worth reversing direction (and position) each nozzle is purged: left nozzle to be purged towards right…[Read more]

LOL - it usually takes a year or so for questions to repeat here! 🙂 So far it seems that it was consciences decision by CEL to disallow calibration unless you have smart reels.
But if it makes any difference at all - here’s +1 for allowing calibration without a smart reel…

click replied to the topic Multi-object slicer logic/ordering. in the forum Software 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Actually - it is AM and slicer and before both - an operator! I suspect that those software tools are pretty stupid and straightforward but we manage to fool ourselves into thinking that there something smart in there. I wouldn’t be surprised if we carefully lay objects in order of creation, they’ll be created that way.
Even if not - that order…[Read more]
