Hi all,
After a couple months of testing and tuning and figuring out the workflow from ZBrush to my printer, I finished my first full print and thought I’d share it. For fun, I do 3D fan art, so I thought I’d print out my Sean Connery/James Bond statue. Really happy with the results. Printed it several pieces in ABS (with one part in PLA), glued it together and fauxbronzed it. Hope you all like it. Robox is awesome!

Do you have any pics of it being printed or before painting?

13/03/2015 at 10:20 pm #16581Thanks @poju @click @pete @Grimtech and @jgarrett for the compliments! Much appreciated.
Yeah, after I finished it, I was kicking myself for not taking more in-progress. I took a couple, but will definitely take more on the next one.
The first one is actually of a test print I did in PLA, which I gave up on because I noticed there were sculpting issues I wanted to change. Haha, then I ran out of PLA and switched to ABS…
The second one is the assembled model with some coats of primer.
OK, thanks again all… Motivates me to keep at it!

I have an unopened box of XTC-3D. I’ve been printing things pretty big around 8 to 12 inches just to get all the details and make sure it prints right with support material. I’m planning to use it on a printed Arbalest ARX-7 with Bridge nylon.

I’d like to learn how to do faux metal like what you did with your design. If maybe you can describe what you did, that’d be great.
Lots of challenges converting 3d models meant for CGI and games for 3D printing like making sure it has the minimum thickness and had to make sure all faces are not reversed. Used different software to get things printable: Sketchup with SuSolid plugin, Rhino 3D to convert to NURBs, MeshMixer to get correct thickness and dimension, and netfabb to autorepair.
