Also @pete another thought, what are the recommended drying temperature limits of a Robox SmartReel?
I’ve seen 4-5 hours @85ºC in an oven to dry nylon, so has anybody tested the Smartreel’s EEPROMS heat tolerance, when used this way? Just another 2¢

@pete Great news, is this the spec?
If so what is it’s elastic temperature limit compared to Polymaker PC+? I’m thinking of engine bays or under the hood performance. Is it a specific brand you’re buying in, like 3D Elements, or a the same one you were testing/using, that you referred to in other posts.
Any tips on using it?

Hi @Pete,
It would really make our job easier if there was a way for us to hook into AutoMaker, that was a bit less ‘hacky’ than the current system. While the current system works (at least on a mac), there has been a bit of reverse engineering going on to try to figure out what data is being sent to and from the old CuraEngine executable.…[Read more]

Hi @pete thanks for that, it will be better the have it here and clearly visible.
Like you know the mac version is working fine except some little issues.
And we are close to have a windows version working.

@bhudson @pete Thanks for your help.
With everything disconnected the extruder wouldn’t feed so I’ve already taken it to bits and cleaned out. The filament was bulging and full of worn off bits. I think the new plastic insert probably makes this worse.
Always seem to have problems with Robox PLA clogging and misbehaving. I’ve switched to totally…[Read more]

@pete Started getting some slipping from one of the extruders (using PolySupport). Is it just a matter of cleaning out the extruder or is their some Robox trickery here?

Not sure where the original post went…
Resurrecting an old thread slightly, I tried previewing layers in “Repetier-Host Mac”, and the gcode ws website, and they’re good, but the Slic3r Prusa Edition port is faster and clearer in my opinion.
The only thing is it doesn’t state is the layer height, but the actual fixed dimension from the bed,…[Read more]

“Automaker does the postprocessing while sending the gcode file to the Robox.”
I’m not sure this is the case, if you are still using this workflow…
“Workflow: Gcode from Simplify3D is saved to a file on the host computer. In Automaker 3.0.0 I go to Settings (the coged wheel icon), then to maintenance. There is a button to send and execute…[Read more]

@nebbian I’m really chuffed that it is working finally, and I’ve learnt few things about permissions and macOS doing odd stuff to filenames too, as well as dabbling with Terminal & a bit of googling as well. LMAO
The biggest trick I found is to open slic3r first, and get through the macOS verification process, to stop slicing failed errors, and…[Read more]

Hey @pete,
Thanks for the explanation. Can you please let me know what the ejection volume for the 0.4mm nozzle should be? Back of the envelope calculations say that it should be 0.53, is this correct?
My issue is that when using the default settings, the start of printing tends to be very underextruded. You can see this in the attached im…[Read more]

Good stuff Mike, I’m pleased that it’s working for you. Perseverance pays off!
Out of interest, what ejection volume value are you using at the moment? To get this to work, you need to create a custom profile in AM, set the ejection volume there, then when printing in AM you need to choose that profile. Obviously then it gets sent to Sl…[Read more]

Thank you, @bhudson and @pete for your reply and advise!
I have tried both suggestions, and it’s now working fine.
The issue could have been a combination of the head not screwed tight enough, and a slightly loose spring, and maybe also some old filament residue that was stuck to the nozzle (I saw this when I removed the Head, which may have…[Read more]

@nebbian I checked out the GitHub a few days ago, and it looks great, but I haven’t tested it yet. Do you have a link to that dinky little 3D test print, that was a couple of square cylinders, a cone and three cylinders (thumb_IMG_6942_1024), as I’d be curious to try the software & for model with my DM printer, and have a comparison back to back…[Read more]

Thanks for that @pete,
Exactly what I was looking for. Well, I didn’t know that it was available to tinker with, but now I do! I can understand the defaults erring on the side of overextrusion after a prime, but I think it can be dropped a bit.
I’ll do some tests and let you know some numbers that work well for me.

Thanks all for replaying. It is amazing how community of the Robox is great!
@bhudson - I have just opened a new one from Robox and I have exactly the same results. However, I will dry them to check it as well.
@nebbian - I do brim as well however it can be problematic if your model becoming more complicated. It is difficult to remove brim from…[Read more]

I don’t have a problem at all with such a mistake.
The problem is that I’m banned, and the excuse is for doing what you did, or at least that was what I got from support,
but they said themself they were only guessing, they don’t know.
Another problem is that @pete is ignoring me for weeks now to correct this problem.
So perhaps it’s…[Read more] -

@pete @pelgrim The reason I started the topic twice is a really annoying bug in the forum software: After I had posted my topic, I noticed a typo in it’s title („…an randomly…“ instead of „…and randomly…“ – D missing). I went back and edited the topic title, but after hitting submit/save, the entire discussion was GONE. I still was able to see a…[Read more]
