MAYBE, if you make these services available in the US. Too expensive to ship (I have been there, done that).

09/11/2015 at 12:39 pm #24095Hey @pete if I go for the service and upgrade option, how does it actually proceed when the time comes?
And perhaps more to the point when would I need to order the service?
Is it that the kits ship out and the customers have the choice of sending machine + kit back, or will the kits be held and machines upgraded as they are scheduled to come in?
In addition, the service details say that the cost includes shipping back to the customer, but will the collection of the machine be handled as part of the service or do customers need to arrange that part separately?
Given that my machine is pre-order wave 3 (originally delivered mid December 2014, though immediately went back to base for repair and re-delivered mid-January 2015) I think it is likely to see significant updates, not least the other extruder getting the improved switch surface and flexible mod of course, so I’m quite tempted to order the service, just right now now sure how it all works.
09/11/2015 at 2:16 pm #24102Buy this shipping service http://robox.cel-uk.com/robox-shipping.html
This will charge you based on your location for the shipping of 1 Robox. We will contact you afterward to arrange collection and book the couriers. The shipping service is likely to be less than you can find elsewhere but not essential.
And also buy this service http://robox.cel-uk.com/services/upgrade-1.html
The checkout system will charge you for the shipping of 1 Robox from us to you after the service.
Once you have purchased this you should create a support ticket and include your order number as provided by the shop. The service team will tell you when to ship your Robox to avoid downtime. The sooner you book in the sooner the upgrade will be done.
12/11/2015 at 11:22 am #24182@pete I’ve just realised that I failed to include the words “Dual head” before the word kit several times in my request, which changes how it reads quite a bit.
To clarify, when I was asking about how does it work, I meant somewhat in relation to already having a dual head kit on pre-order (later than first shipment) I just failed at explaining myself properly!
12/11/2015 at 11:44 am #24184If you have the DM kit on pre-order you should order service option 2 to get it installed. If you want to install it yourself that is fine, we will just ship you the parts and provide a link to the instructions to fit it.
If you do order service option 2 you need to create a support ticket and as soon as DM stock is available you will be contacted to send your Robox in based on the schedule of the support team.
12/11/2015 at 11:53 am #24185I just tried to order, got distracted and took too long to enter my paypal password, causing paypal to time out and now my discount code is coming up invalid when I try again 🙁
13/11/2015 at 5:15 am #24194@pete, You still have not answered the question as to whether there will be a US site for this service?

13/11/2015 at 9:38 am #24195We will test it in the UK first which will also help us see what part stocks are required. I expect we can extend this to a local US service after that.
09/01/2016 at 10:06 pm #25583Another KS backer here so I’m quite tempted to purchase this service. However, @pete I was wondering, how many different versions of retail Roboxes do you have out there in the market? A local electronics store has a huge pile of returned Roboxes available for a very nice price (699€) and I have been thinking of getting another one. But is it possible that I might need the upgrade service for that printer as well if I want to ensure that I have the latest and greatest updates installed?
11/01/2016 at 9:39 am #25598There are a few points in production where key changes were made to parts of Robox but there has been a constant flow of adjustments to all the parts. Most changes are not really noticeable and wont effect print quality, most changes have been to make Robox easier to assemble or to service. In some cases the changes improve lifetime or remove potential flaws which do not always appear.
Check your serial number eg:
RBX01-KS-0315-0023012-0955-9
KS and TS where the first models produced before normal production started. Production models have a country code, eg The BK serial has UK power cable in it, BU has a US power cable. The 4 digit code after this is a WWYY date code which indicates the production date.
The most prominent changes are to the Z gantry on both sides, there are 3 stages of production to this:
KS and TS models. These models have a slightly different threaded bar and nut, V1, to update it is complex as a lot of parts need to be removed. If this is working then it can be left as is, it may never become a problem. The majority of these units will have been serviced and most likely upgraded already by us or by their users.
Units produced from 3714, up to and including 4814 had a V2 revision to the Z gantry parts and threaded bars, these parts were being damaged in transit. This is a small number of units with this fault and if everything is working they can be left as is. Just be sure to pack it well if you are moving it around, the head should be removed and the gantry supported so it cannot move up or down.
4914 onward. Finally we made a new version which is still in production now, the same as V2 but with some beefed up sections so it can absorb more rough handling.
The best thing to do is to find your serial and open a ticket with this. Ask the service team for a brief rundown on what might be updated, this will allow us to check records to see what has happened in previous service work.
12/01/2016 at 6:37 pm #25652Will those with a pro contract like myself get the DM / flexi filament upgrade service included in their contract if they have already ordered a DM head?

31/01/2016 at 8:38 am #26397@pete: Hi Pete, would a v2 gantry automatically replaced to the actual model in the service package? If not that seems to be the only reason for very special care when sending the machine in. Could an update be ordered if not included?
How about the printbeds. Will they be replaced against the sandblasted version?
Are there any updates that are not included, but could be ordered individually if not at the shop than otherwise?
