I’m not sure why CEL picked the current location for the squirt and wipe as it is right above the hole for the Y axis.
I find myself constantly fishing out filament scraps from down there, which is made even less convenient by the fact that you first have to move the bed back after having moved all the way to the front to open the door latch.
Minimally I would hope for a small catchment in front of the silicone wipe.
Come to think of it, I should probably just print one myself…

25/09/2014 at 7:04 am #6589Just remove the bottom front cover (the black plastic thing) and tip the Robox forwards. The crap usually just slides right out.

28/09/2014 at 4:49 pm #6896Doesnt seem to correspond to the position on mine, I have no issue with the small purge and wipe location, any purge comes off more than easily as I just pick it up, doesnt stick or get stuck in anything.

When mine purges, the plastic stays on the bed rim in front of the pink wiper. I have to lift it out manually, but if it does drop down into that crevice, it’s already solid.

Unfortunate design… Why not increase the Y-length of the bed carrier and include a crap catcher in front of that rubber blade or along the entire width!? I’ve found that even if you do a purge print to free the nozzles, and afterwards scrape off the plastic bits, you have to be very careful that nothing falls into Y axis rail gap.
30/09/2014 at 6:31 am #7045I’d always assumed it was designed specifically like that so (solidified) debris did drop down that channel, allowing it to collect there and be cleared out by removing the front bottom panel and tipping forward on the curved front edge.
I don’t think the plastic should be liquidy enough to drip anyway.
My point is that the problem isn’t that crap gets dropped down there, but that liquid plastic is dripping down there directly. I think it’s better to solve the underlying cause for problems rather than trying to correct or deal with the symptoms. Wouldn’t it be better to eliminate the need for a crap catcher?

Can I ask are you pre-heating nozzles manually? I’ve never seen this happen yet… @gid is right, the crap is supposed to go into the bottom tray, it would be quite a large chunk which would affect any motion, and it can be easily removed as mentioned by removing the front cover and tipping out. We agree it’s not perfect, but we don’t consider it a high priority problem right now - there’s bigger fish to fry! As a solution for later, we’re considering moulding the tip wipe blade in the form of a cup/blade combination, but still in high temperature silicone.
04/10/2014 at 7:42 pm #7477My solution is cutting a paper strip of the width of the blade, stick it in with the wiper blade and fold it towards the front.
It’s a “consumable” but easily mass produced and affordable
