Okay, got the settings right and did a quick and dirty draft print to test it out 🙂

    Settings for GoPro Hero+ LCD:

    AutoMaker Camera delay: 0
AutoMaker Seconds delay: 3 (2 is ok most of the time but in 1% the platform is already on its way back)
    Photo mode on GoPro
GoPro on with Wifi on (App mode)
External power for GoPro to make sure…[Read more]

  • Thank you Chris, it doesn’t really have any priority for me but it would be nice to disable it for these kind of use cases. It’s pretty awesome that you can fully control the Robox with a sub-$100 tablet including a camera to monitor remotely if needed. Even the 3d view works (not fast, but it does it’s job). I usually have no problem with the…[Read more]

Hey Chris, haha, I understand, awesome that you guys at least just left it in there for us to tinker with, love that kind of stuff 🙂

I think what confused me with the settings is how they apply in Real-time updating while printing. I think the Seconds delay feature is cooked into the gcode (and therefore won’t change after a print has started)…[Read more]

  • Hi 🙂

I just got a crappy Windows 10 tablet yesterday, just 32GB SSD and 1GB RAM with a Intel Atom processor. It’s not a device with great powers but it actually works and I was able to use it to start prints on my Robox. It actually works quite well but the only part where I was struggling is the screen where you start the print and where the…[Read more]

Time to revive an old topic 😉

I got a GoPro Hero+ LCD yesterday and I remembered that Robox had support for GoPro so of course I had to try it out. My findings:

The good news, It works! Even with the untested Hero+ LCD model.
I didn’t think it would though; It’s not a very simple or well documented setup and settings screen. I had to guess…[Read more]

  • I visited RapidPro today, the one, and only, yearly returning 3d printing trade show in the Netherlands. There were some interesting printers on show there, I thought it would be nice to share some of them 🙂

First up: A nice mod by a Fablab, a Ultimaker upside down on a long pole making it possible to create very tall prints, it’s on Kickstarter[Read more]

  • @dmullerdesign your problem is definitely worse but it’s the same kind of problem I have (although my example here is not the best example of it). Has your issue been resolved yet?

  • I’m experiencing the same curling for a while now so it’s not a unique problem (let it go for a while since I just wanted to print instead of sending in parts again but it’s definitely not good). Slic3r seems to be a bit better with smoother surfaces and less blobbing/stringing when you print 2+ models at the same time. It might have something to…[Read more]

  • Try it again with the latest version of Slic3r, I just downloaded the latest release; In the Release Candidate I wasn’t able to use Slic3r but I tried again after installing the latest version released today and now It’s running fine. Slic3r doesn’t have the acceleration issues Cura has resulting in less blobs, smears and a smoother outer surface…[Read more]

Yeah, you probably fried your Main PCB, possibly the extruder as well by replacing the ribbon cable from the extruder to the main PCB at a slightly wrong angle, it’s not hard to do but you will need to get them replaced. Contact support and they’ll help you out I guess 🙂

  • I still had a lot of White PLA laying around since it didn’t work correctly using Slic3r and I had a project to give it another try in Cura; It worked out quite well, it’s a LG G-Watch R dock:

The outer layers sometimes under-extrude a little causing a brittle stand (had to superglue it 2 times when a piece broke off, next time I should print…[Read more]

  • Ah, figures, didn’t make the link between glowfill and wear on the extruder but I have to say I printed a lot with glowfill and have worn out my filament detection switch flap multiple times now 😉

@jack-strong: Yes, the difference between my last test version and the last production update is simple but a great one: better printbed level calibration when every print starts. In the test version it measured only 3 points: left middle, right middle and center; In the latest production version it measures every corner + top, bottom, left and…[Read more]

    @jack-strong

Currently using the latest downloadable version but haven’t tried any XT with any of the Cura/new releases of AM; I guess your first layer’s sticking now seeing your response? 🙂

  • dave replied to the topic Colorfabb XT & PLA/PHA in the forum Materials 1 year, 6 months ago

@jack-strong - Sure, haven’t used it with the new AM yet so not sure if it’s still the same but here the profile tested and provided by Robox (it’s very similar to the profile I created myself, eventually went with the Robox provided version).

Never had problems with _XT not sticking but you do need the right settings (it needs a highish bed…[Read more]

Colorfabb PLA/PHA Standard Black is fine as well, created some awesome prints with it without layers delaminating or blobbing.

    Old AM (Slic3r)

    New AM (Cura)

  • Awesome, Really happy with the better bed levelling, just did a test print and it actually had a very nice first layer on my not so flat PEI, who needs flat surfaces when you have detailed bed levelling 😀 Keep up the good work!
