Has anyone tried running the Automaker software on the Raspberry Pi? The reason for asking is that my old Dell desktop refused to play, reporting that it does not have the level of 3D support.

On a related note is there anyway to send the G-Code to the printer without having a graphical preview?

    Clicky @clicky

Automaker can’t run on Raspberry Pi. There is no official release to do so.

Theoretically it could run (at least something could) as technology is there (Slic3r can be compiled for RPi, JavaFX + rest of API stack works on RPi) - but that would mean lots of hacking and I am not sure where CEL stands regarding it (hacking). I think they might be frowning at it but it is yet to be found out. See here: http://www.cel-robox.com/forums/topic/sending-commands-to-printer-from-raspberry-pi/page/3/

I’ll send a ticked to find out more. Probably tomorrow.

The reason for mentioning the Pi was this link, and the fact I also have one.

Thanks for the other link, the RBX project does look good, I’ll tell the other Element14 RoadTesters about that.

On getting the Automaker to work on old machines I stumbled across some interesting links whilst looking at OpenSCAD, apparently there is a “software OpenGL driver” that uses your CPU rather than graphics card, obviously this is slower but apparently it means you can get OpenGL 2.0 capability.

I requires a Linux style development environment which I don’t have setup so I’m not optimistic about getting that compiled any time soon.
