    • Major updates to support Root and Mote
      • Root provides remote control of printers via AutoMaker or a web interface
      • Mote is an integrated control screen for Root
    • Added Reprint function
      • Allows recent projects to be printed without going through settings/slicing steps
      • Only displays those jobs that match the head type and that have loaded Robox filament
    • Language files are now in the install directory and can be user-edited
      • Three files are required for each language
      • For example - the japanese translation is in these three files for Windows (depends on install directory):
        • C:\Program Files\CEL\AutoMaker\Language\LanguageData_ja.properties
        • C:\Program Files\CEL\Common\Language\NoUI_LanguageData_ja.properties
        • C:\Program Files\CEL\Common\Language\UI_LanguageData_ja.properties
      • or on Mac
        • /Applications/CEL/AutoMaker/Language/LanguageData_ja.properties
        • /Applications/CEL/Common/Language/NoUI_LanguageData_ja.properties
        • /Applications/CEL/Common/Language/UI_LanguageData_ja.properties
    • Many minor bug fixes

    Hi

Is there an updated manual for version 3.00? I’m wondering how you can stop a layer at a set point to add fasteners, without watching the print and waiting.

I found links to the earlier versions in the support pages.

@17bt There is not an updated manual for the new version of the software. The English user manual V1.4 is the latest.

You cannot stop the print at a certain layer. You will have to watch it and stop it manually.

    OK Ben & wow!

“You cannot stop the print at a certain layer” That is surprising, and it looks like a feature request is coming, for some ability to add a manual pause to Automaker.

Maybe if there was an “advanced section” where you could see the individual layers, as say an opaque horizontal section or slice, when you go to layer dialogue box, possibly as an “Insert” tab? then you could visualise the moment that the top of the insert is completed, so you could drop in the fastener or laser cut shape.

    Just my 2¢

    Mike

EDIT Looks like Cura already has a layers function…

@17bt That feature request has been on the list for about a year and a half. It is not a high priority.

There are a lot of advanced features that would be great if they were added but the priority is on usability and simplicity for the majority of users. Advanced features will be added when there is time and if there is enough interest.

Ben, you spend. lot of time replying, and for that I’m sure some of us are grateful, but as an ex-industrial designer & modelmaker, I can honestly say the priority is not on “usability and simplicity for the majority of users”.

If it was there would be a manual, there would be instructions for the latest software that were related to the screen shots or best practice guidance on how to dual print, how to use support materials, instead, there are jumbles of click boxes and navigational faux pas littered within the Automaker software, that caters for the more experienced with no mouseovers or explanation for the beginners.

I have no issues with a start up getting things wrong, but CEL aren’t that now, so really the game should be improving.

That being said, I am happy with my Robox for straightforworward tasks, and the accepted range of materials it works with, but although it can produce a first time print relatively easily, after the user develops you do become aware of its limitations, and shortcomings. I hardly think dropping a fastener at a preset layer point is an advanced feature, but it must be if it’s been on a feature list for a year and a half.

@17bt I was speaking to priority of new features. The priority for new features are those that increase simplicity and usability for the majority of users. The feature you requested is not a high priority because of the number of users that it would benefit is smaller than the features that are currently being developed and because there is a work around.

CEL is a very small team with limited resources. They are working on a lot of things and have to prioritize. If you have the time and would like to write the documentation you would like to see, please do so. I am happy to review and point out anything that needs to be adjusted.

For ‘not an open source being an option’ company, CEL being quite happy to accept ‘go and write our documentation yourself’ and that just doesn’t sound right.

I agree with Mike, there is problem of a missing documentation for AM (‘go trawl forums to find right combination of mouse clicks to import multimaterial objects in’ shouldn’t replace online or in app help) and lack of love for AM in form of CEL not fixing simple problems and bugs.

To me it seems that the company’s line is that “small team should focus on future sales - people who already bought Robox do not bring more money in” - so all none show stopper bugs and features are really not that important. I am not 100% sure that ‘stop at layer’ is feature request which is only 1.5 years old. It is older than that for sure, same as many others.

And just to balance all above - Robox is really good, capable hardware. Shame software is not better - especially when we all know it could have been…

Hi guys, Automaker 3.00.00 seems to work correctly for me, the only issue I have is that mine is installed in french, and the final menu where I can set the density brim, raft support and so one does not appear correctly. I just notice a new check box but it impossible for me to guess what it is and what it does because the text of the check box does not have the place to appear.

The box I’am talking about is the last one, last line and left to the “density of filling :” , on this new one I can only read (if I traduce from french): “impression in s…” which does not help so much (see attachment file)

I’am sure it won’t be so hard for you to tell me what this feature do 😉

    Have a nice day

@alaguigui it says “impression en spirale” but it has been shortened by your screen resolution.

This is the English version. A spiral print is nice for vases, not much good for other things. More here.

You could edit the French translation file if you want.

    C:\Program Files\CEL\AutoMaker\Language\LanguageData_fr.properties

Line 87 of this file reads

    extrusion.spiralVase=impression en spirale

You could edit the text and save the file. Next time you open AutoMaker it would show your text.

I have a little problem with the language. I choosed English and appears all in Spanish. Same happen with System (lenguage) and Spanish.
Meanwhile, with others languages works fine.

    Regards.
