having printed the spool holder @dave previously uploaded, and not having the best print result but also realizing it wouldn’t hold the spools I have, i decided to model up a width adjustable spool holder that uses the same 608 bearings but using some printed bearing axels and some 4mm rods for the width adjustment part.
used abs and a normal profile but with filament multiplier reduced to .8 due to skipping from the extruder and advice from @chrisyt which seemed to have helped, but getting a lot of blobbing but hoping that is more due to am .13 as it hadn’t been happening on previous version and from what i can see so far on .14 seems to have stopped again.

Can you put the files up so we can print them as well if we need spool holders for different sizes?11/10/2014 at 9:39 pm #7743Someone should model a generic reel holder which has a hub identical to the Robox SmartReels (so clips into the Robox just like SmartReel) and has a “finger” to hold generic reels. The finger probably would need to be centered, thus would cover the Eject button, which isn’t a huge problem IMO. Perhaps the folks at CEL are willing to provide the CAD data of the SmartReel hub design, so one doesn’t have to start from scratch.

12/10/2014 at 1:23 pm #7764@dave stl files attached. i think the blobbing has been fixed with the latest automaker from my inital prints..
@dr-woo that does sound like a good idea only problem is the difference in filament spools. my taulman t glaze is only 12cm diameter with a 19mm hole in the middle whereas an abs spool i have is 20cm diameter with a 5cm hole , but might have to give it some thought
