@Mike, you are right. They could also add passwords to avoid curious students from turning them on. (Another feature request! Oh not another! … I could hear them say 🙂 )
Perhaps they are just full of tasks to complete and those are really low in priority.

@dcarlson, I am curious if baking out the filament helps solve the problem. Thx.

I support you on both feature requests. However, I think they are reluctant to add these (simple?) features because they don’t want to clutter the user interface and increase the chance of making an unwanted choice by school users. (School users are one of the their main target customers)
But I surely want them as well.
I keep a list of u…[Read more]

@sonicthehedgehog, @bhudson. thanks both for the suggestions. I will try both methods.

Thanks @bhudson. I will try to play around with the custom setting. say perimeter = 1; set extrusion width = wall thickness; to see what happens.

@pete, Haha, I guess kids have some universal attributes. Please see if you can dig it up somewhere.

@bhudson, thanks for the info.
I will try getting an aluminum/steel plate cut to size and stick the LokBuild or GeckoTec’s new sheet on top to see how it goes.
You are right that the PEI sheets when new are nice and straight. However, it would curl after a few times. And it may not always curl up 🙁

Thanks Pete.
I will ask the designer to see if the wall thickness can be adjusted. So, there is no way we can do a 0.4 mm wall thickness in Robox (or any other printers where the nozzle diameter is >= 0.3 mm). And the minimum would be 0.8 mm if we use S2 head in Fine mode. And probably needs even thicker wall (0.9 mm?) for S2 head in Nor…[Read more]

I am having problem trying to print a part which has thin cylindrical walls (please see attached stl file). I am using quickfill head in normal mode with all the default settings. ColorFabb XT Red on Smartreel was used.
The part was oriented with the thin wall section up. When it got to that, the thread from the nozzle didn’t stick and went me…[Read more]

Just went to the Kickstarter and learnt that it’s a build surface not a plate. I actually want a plate to solve the PEI plate flatness problem.
CEL-UK Shop also sells the LokBuild 3D Print Build Surface. Lookls pretty good too.

Thank you for the info. I tried to order the original build plate but was told it’s out of stock. I will try this new one. The PEI is great and sticks well most of the time for me (except for a small 1st layer) but I want to try a flat build plate for a good and even first layer.

Thank you all for the suggestion and Ian for the clip! (I forgot about this thread. Sorry for the late acknowledgment.)
Actually, I think I need a cover for the entire spool bay. Kids have a habit of turning the reel (regardless of whether it’s running or not!)
Ian, got time for another distraction 🙂

@bhudson, I will calibrate before re-attempt then.
Anyone tried printing that and would like to share their experience?
thanks

I have tried printing this model that comes with the USB card in the package. I would like to show it to people interested in Robox. It would be nice to just very easily remove the design-in support and then make it turn smoothly (with very little play) without using a tool.
However, when I used Polysupport and Sunset PLA, although I could r…[Read more]

@mnew, the same problem happened to mine last month. It was a printer I bought in October 2016. I provide the S/N for your reference to see if yours is built around the same 38th week last year.

This feature request is actually asking to defeature the hardware button on the Robox. If there is an AM option to enable/disable it, it would help me immensely.
I am using Robox for introducing 3D printing to students at schools and NGOs. Very frequently, the button is pressed (and worse long pressed) right at the beginning of a class. I on…[Read more]

@chrisyt, where is the first layer height defined? I just locate the “Layer height” parameter. Thx.

Thanks for your comments. I have to admit I didn’t watch it all, just the intro part where I saw all the head tools.
Perhaps not that good huh.
