Dave replied to the topic How do you get NinjaFlex to feed? in the forum Chatter 3 months, 4 weeks ago
I’ve found that the Bowden tube supplied by CEL with the extruder upgrade components fits inside the original filament guide all the way up to the extruder. I fixed the tubes in place with a small dab of superglue, see attached pictures. Once installed, the Ninja Flex material fed very easily for me providing I cut the end at 45 degrees as @bhudson…[Read more]

@bhudson do you know if the new head designs address the connection issues? I’ve not removed the head on my printer for sometime which leads me to think the head has moved over time causing the connection problem. If connection problems can lead to a situation where the head temperature runs away like that, then this could be quite serious if it…[Read more]

@bhudson the “eject” and “eject stuck material” commands usually don’t work on their own for me. I find that heating the head using G code and extruding a small amount of material before running the eject command does the trick.
The purge command uses the bed which takes time to heat up and seems unnecessary. I find that doing things manually is…[Read more]

When changing materials I normally manually heat the hot end using the M104 command from the G code window; once up to temperature, open each nozzle in turn and manually feed material using the arrow buttons in automaker. In this instance I was using Colorfabb XT and set the temperature to 240°C.
Last night something weird happened. For some…[Read more]

Dave replied to the topic Colorfabb_XT who is using it/has used it? in the forum Materials 4 months ago
I’ve had some success printing with Colorfabb HT, I modified the temperature of an XT profile and had some pretty decent results.
The reel holder that @click referenced is one that I designed due to lack of free space around my printer. Once I receive the dual material kit, I’ll design another one to support two material reels if anyone is interested.

Does that include DIY kits as I have opted to fit the kit myself

Could you provide a list of parts included in the upgrade kit please?
I currently have significant wear on the electrical tab that comes into contact with the top X carriage rail for auto levelling and can’t see it lasting much longer before becoming worn to the point where it no longer makes contact.
If the parts required to change out…[Read more]

I gave the suggestion from Chris a go, see attached screen shots. 2016-03-22 is the before and 2016-03-22 (3) is after recalibration. After calibration I tried printing the model that @dr-woo provided but still had problems with alignment. This time the print was too far to the right and ended up around 1mm off the PEI sheet. U…[Read more]

Thanks for the clarification @dr-woo this is indeed the problem I was trying to highlight. It has been more extreme for me where some prints have missed the far right side of the PEI sheet completely but never thought to get any pictures of those instances. The problem has only become apparent after using Automaker 2, It has never been an issu…[Read more]

I am using automaker version 2 and have noticed that items placed near the right hand side of the bed end up closer if not right on the edge of the bed when printing. I’ve attached some pictures to illustrate.

My Robox has 4814 in the serial number. I’ve fitted the extruder update and new style tip wipe. My head was replaced under warranty a few months ago as it started leaking, it has 2215 in the serial. Are there any other upgrades you would recommend for my machine?
The X axis seems to be making a lot of noise at times even though I’ve kept i…[Read more]

Would it be possible to publish a list of all upgraded components with release date to give us an idea of what has changed and when please?
Are we able to purchase each of those components for DIY installation?

Dave replied to the topic Starter profile for Ninjaflex in the forum Flexible materials testing 6 months, 3 weeks ago
I had the same issues running white NinjaFlex and increased the temperature to 235 which reduced the number of errors. What I’ve also noticed is that if I leave the printer to pull the material from the reel under its own power, I get feed errors. If I pull material off the roll manually so the printer has less resistance, it prints w…[Read more]

I have been doing some testing with white NinjaFlex and based my settings on the gold profile you provided. I have changed the temperature and speeds and have been getting some good results, see pictures. One problem I have been experiencing is filament slip warning in the Automaker software. I’ve done some searching on the forums and found…[Read more]

I’ve tried to feed the ninjaflex without the Bowden tube and couldn’t get it to feed. I fed first time when using a small piece of Bowden tube.

Hi Pete,
I have purchased the upgrade parts for my current extruder and already have a roll of NinjaFlex and SemiFlex. Is there a solution for feeding flexible material from the reel holders to the extruder? I’ve found that the flexible material doesn’t feed through easily.
Do you have any profiles for these materials to use as a starting point…[Read more]
