anyone cares to share their skype account (or any other chat account) ?
perhaps a bit early, but it can come in handy when all backers get their hardware and we rather ask something fast on chat
then wait for a response on the forum. If anything mentionable happens we can still share it on the forum.
For now, we can get to know each other.I can be found on skype by the name pelgrimforever

09/05/2014 at 3:30 pm #2688so, skype really isn’t compatible with robox lol.
Since nobody wants to chat with it, I’m curious to the reasons why,
anyone wants to share thoughts about that ?Never received any spam through skype (or due to skype)
Never had any unwanted people in my skype list (you can set only to receive something from people you know …)
Skype never exploded

make sure you leave a note about being a Robox backer or it will be rejected, like many every week
… there is Skype spam

With just 500 units sold, we need to really get this community jump started to help fine tune the experience.
Low volume sales could spell doom for progression of the company, and hence options / support for us customers.
I’ve created a skype account just for this forum: vorpalwocky.
As Olivier said, do mention that you are a Robox backer.
Best,
M

I’ll still keep hoping to have more people in there then just 1 …java (EE), JavaFX, HTML, GIS) programmer, database wizard, framework inventor, looking for a job ! http://roboxing.com/wizards05/06/2014 at 2:30 pm #3076Why Skype? We’re spread across the globe in various time zones, and Skype doesn’t archive communications.
This forum is a good place for archived snapshot text collaboration. For more real-time uses, we really need an asymmetric solution that doesn’t require people to be online simultaneously. I personally rarely have time to sit at a screen and chat, but can easily contribute to e.g. a Google Drive document/spreadsheet or this forum. A Wiki or logged IRC would also be of much greater use than Skype.
Personally I refuse to use Skype as it’s a closed-source Microsoft product. If we must have video chat, and I’m not against the idea just the implementation, Google Hangouts scales better for multiple users and also allows integrated archiving on YouTube in case anyone missed out.
Just my 2 cents.

05/06/2014 at 2:37 pm #3078Why skype ?
I don’t care, as long as it’s a chat program.
Text will do by the way, I rarely use voice or video.A forum has it’s purpose and benefits. So has chat. None replaces the other, it contributes.
I run Ubuntu (linux distro), nothing closed source on my hardware, and I’m no fan of wine (the linux way of running micro$oft code)
