Hi,
today I want to show you my first big success with a 3D printed part. Of course it was printed with my Robox ;-).
A few month ago my little daughter (7 years old) got a small dinosaur toy in a happy meal at McDonald’s. The dino was a kind of chameleon. You could put an orange tongue inside his mouth and if you pull the tail the tongue jumps out like a real chameleon is doing with his tongue.
Unfortunately one day the tongue gets lost and the fun with the dino was over and my daughter was very sad about this.
Fortunately I got a Robox and orange PLA filament. I started to model the tongue using Blender. The sculpt mode of Blender was really great for this because you can model organic things like the front part of the tongue as well as straight parts. The Blender built in 3D tools helped to check and fix non-manifold faces, gaps, etc..
The first try I did in normal mode with the orange PLA, infill 40%, honeycomb. After cutting the brim and deburring the edges I got a working tongue! (see attached image).
The second try I did in fine mode, using 20% of infill also honeycomb. The result is really great. Both tongues fit in the dino perfectly and snap in very smoothly and shoot out like a charm.
I took a video, take a look here:

My daugther gave me a giant hug and said: Thank you dad.
She is happy now and this is all that counts - am I right?
Keep on roboxing!
