I’ve got black and white TitanX ABS filaments on a duel head and I’m getting very different results with them. The black is smooth and prints fine every time but the white keeps coming out curly and knotted.

I’ve cleaned the nozzles, purged and calibrated but it’s made no difference to it. I’m not sure what else to do except perhaps swapping the nozzles over and seeing what happens.

@bigdaz That is a perfect purge.

If you take the nozzles out, your head will be damaged and it will not be covered under warranty!

You should only need to calibrate once. A purge is only useful to tell if material is coming out of the nozzles. If material is coming out, the printer is probably working fine unless you are getting errors during the purge.

I had some problems with weak interlayer bonding on TitanX prints. The default temperatures in the Robox profiles are too low. On a Robox Dual and a Replicator 2 TitanX prints best at 245 degree Celsius nozzle temperature and 90 degrees print bed temperature. On the Robox Dual you should increase the extrusion factor from 0.89 to 0.93 for the black TitanX to avoid underextrusion.

Try these settings for the white TitanX. You might need some degrees more on the nozzle to adjust the melt flow for the white Titanium dioxide pigment in the filament.

I just meant swapping the black and white colours over to see if there was a difference with the nozzles. The trouble with the wobbles is the extra height it creates, you’re getting 2 or even 3 layers in height so the next time the nozzle comes around it’s colliding with it. Wrecked a print I was doing that started off black which was going along fine, then it switched to white and wrecked it.

Thanks, I gave it a quick try at at a higher temperature this morning and it was flowing smoother. I might have to experiment some more.

@bigdaz If the nozzles are colliding with the print you have a bad nozzle height calibration.

The purge will not show you a good nozzle height calibration as it is designed to print above the print bed. It sounds like your calibration isn’t good. Did you run it with the door open? If so, you may have a head with a problem and you might want to open a support ticket.

I concur with the higher temperature - I print TitanX with 245 first layer and 240 others.
