After a couple of weeks of undefined pain I made my way into hospital October 23rd. Got out on Christmas Eve and enjoyed some RnR at home. Now I am peeking back into the world and woud like to know what´s going on ^^
So give me the update, lads!

08/01/2016 at 6:23 am #25464Welcome back.
The news is…
CEL are currently at CES show in Vegas demoing the DM head as we speak.
Dual Material Head is about to be delivered to the first batch or pre orders.
Price for the DM head kit will go up very very soon. Get in now if you want it.
Automaker 2.0 is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Expect some big changes.
Some new print heads are in the works. These will be without the needle valve and hence be lighter and faster. Info is scant on this.
I assume you didnt miss the release of ColorFabXT PET and HIPS materials. These are both excellent.
Various materials are in the Robox labs undergoing evaluation. These include Nylon(yeah), PVA (disolves) and Colorfab NGEN(might replace XT if its good).

I’m really sorry to hear you spent so much time at the hospital, I hope you got fixed for well.

Fabio08/01/2016 at 8:18 am #25467Welcome back. I hope its all sorted now.
Aside of dual material head, new terms as ‘trees’ and ‘toolheads’ were floated around here. After lots of excitement it seems that we’ll have single nozzle head which will work as on other, non needle valve printers, after all. Drag knife is being mentioned but very, very shyly.
08/03/2016 at 3:22 pm #27724Well wasn´t just as back as I thought, not in such a pretty shape right now, but good enough to have a look at what you are doing here.
I´m sorry to hear, that obviously the DM Head has not yet taken off as well as it was expected, but I am looking forward to your reports. For the time being I shall have to stick to my SM Head, as the health bills have killed my budget. I shall continue printing normal stuff soon and hope that my filaments haven´t soaked too much moisture.
(Any tips with filaments that stood open too long?08/03/2016 at 4:29 pm #27733many will dry out again with a few silica gel sachets.
There are all sorts of suggestions on the web from reprap “experts” (who still use hairspray on their beds).
Best to start with the least destructive option. We use reusable microwavable pellets and seal them in bags with filament, they change colour when they are full of moisture.
27/03/2016 at 7:48 pm #28505It´s printing fine, for the time being. What is baffling me, is that the time estimate is far off mark at the time. Something I printed in less than 15 Minutes “back then” now takes an hour, and the Head seems to move incredibly slow. I just did a print with an estimate of 1:05 hours and it took until -now- which is 5 hours later.
I used to use the advanced options to speed up prints. Although it goes up to 220%, the speed never changes. So maybe @pete you can tell me, what´s going on? Safety features? Software hickup?
I´ll use the tip with the microwaveables…
29/03/2016 at 4:10 pm #28548time estimates are a known bug, we are working on this.
29/03/2016 at 8:39 pm #28556But it has gotten slower, a lot slower.
I can´t quite fathom why, and blame the new Automaker for it. Additionally I´ve seen that Slic3r has been kicked out.I also posted some of my prints on Thingiverse (I made one).
So my support is still there, but I am not quite as motivated as before.I´d really like you to get his under control. While the quality is still pretty high with the Robox it looses more and more on Speed and features. Also the feedback from the DMH let me halt my triggerfinger. I´ll probably pay the extra 70€ later, when it´s on stock, and be sure, the Head is working properly, before I safe 70€ and a) have to wait quite a while and b) join the ranks of those who cannot print properly.
Thing is, I am still happy with the quality of my prints, but the versatility, precision and speed has to increase to make it more than a glorified toy for me. It´s hard to explain, that a 20min Print takes 1.5 hours on my machine, to a maker with different experiences.
I know the needle valves are the reason, and while they really could ramp up precision, they seem to bring more trouble, than they are worth. On the other hand, if the Robox looses them, it also loses its unique selling proposition. Same with the DMH, if it cannot be done properly, the user loses precision for nothing.
Dear CEL, please work this out!
And … Lasers!
30/03/2016 at 12:27 am #28559@aproche The time estimates have nothing to do with the needle valve. They are a result of a software issue between Cura and the estimation module of AutoMaker. The actual time for prints should be about the same as it always has been. That is my experience at least.
Slic3r was removed because of quality issues. Once those are resolved it may be re-enabled.

The last time it took a baffling 4 1/2 hours. So something is definitely off, and the only thing changed, was the new version of the automaker. Also launching a print at bedtime, that usually took about half the night, and awaking with the printer still humming in the morning is also a new experience. Believe me, the Missus was seriously miffed.
For now Nightprinting is verboten, until I have the answers for her…- This reply was modified 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Aproche.
30/03/2016 at 5:45 pm #28576@aproche I wasn’t aware that it was anything but a time estimation error. I haven’t seen that huge a difference that I am aware of but I don’t print the same thing a lot. I may install AM 1.03 and see if I can confirm the behavior. Thanks for pointing out my misunderstanding.
