The lantern shade is 1mm thick. I can’t remember if I printed it using the 0.8mm head or not, probably was.
it doesn’t look like it, but the share is actually 100mm high, so at the maximum for the printer. The central column height is the minimum it can be due to the length of each segment of the LED strips.

Sorry, the only prints thus far have been mundane objects to make some simple things easier for us.
by that, I mean just some clips which hook over things to allow us to protect some of the wood when showering…
Nothing life saving yet!

It’s done very well. Although I’m only printing while in a marina (for power reasons obviously!).

No, just a simple USB powered strip of lights.

We wanted an LED lantern to use on the boat but none took our fancy, so I decided to design one.
I bought a strip of USB powered LED lights which slide into channels on the post in the middle of the lantern. Excuse the shonky soldering, I’m no pro!
The base has a hole which the LED post sits in and used a little bit of blutac to fix it place…[Read more]

Well, we’re on our annual two week sailing holiday… I’m mostly along for the ride as my partner is more the sailor than I am. So, I need something to pass the time while we’re away. Soooo…. I decided to bring my Robox with me!
Got a few ideas for things I want to print while on the boat so this is an excellent use of my time when I would just…[Read more]

Steven Fagg replied to the topic Print time estimates wildly out in the forum AutoMaker 2.00.xx Bug Reporting 4 months, 3 weeks ago
I’ve also noticed a fair bit of skew when giving estimates on print job times.
The print job I kicked off today stated about 2 hours and 30 minutes for a “Normal” quality job. The print started at approx 11:00 and finished at 18:30. That’s a fair bit out by my maths!
Funnily enough, the “Fine” quality job said 7 hours and 9 minutes. That’s a…[Read more]

Steven Fagg replied to the topic PLB holder in the forum Show us your bits! 5 months, 2 weeks ago
The main difference is the battery longevity, and as such, how far you are from potential rescue.
For a boat mainly doing coastal trips, a 406 PLB should be sufficient and better than nothing.

My partner wanted a Personal Locator Beacon holder for our boat.
Usually this thing is rolling around inside a locker, which isn’t ideal in an emergency!
This was printed without supports in the Woody Beech PLA filament. Came out exceptionally well.
Theres a very slim gap in the back of the model into which the information card fits in…[Read more]

Steven Fagg replied to the topic Gadget Show - will CEL be there? in the forum Chatter 5 months, 4 weeks ago
Damn, would be a shame not to see you there this year.
It’s the first time I’ve gone in a couple of years as I had noticed it was dropping in quality a bit, hoping it’s not going to be a wasted journey up there in April!

The subject says it all!
Hoping that CEL will be there as it would certainly be interesting to see some of the guys there to chat with.

Steven Fagg replied to the topic Robox on IdealWorld tv shopping channel - should I buy one? in the forum Chatter 10 months, 3 weeks ago
Just FYI…
I found this coupon code “537667” (without the quotes) which will take £10 off any orders over £20 on the IdealWorld site.
I’m ordering me some ColorFabb filament 🙂

Steven Fagg replied to the topic Filament slip resolved, but problems still.. in the forum Chatter 10 months, 3 weeks ago
@paulsroom, it’s definitely a problem with the head/x-carriage as I keep seeing AutoMaker display the head temperature both dropping and then rising back up.
I’m hoping the company I bought it from (just over a month ago) will handle the repair of my printer… We’ll see!

@magelan, are CEL sending you out a new x-carriage or are you sending it back in for warranty replacement?

@bhudson - I’ve never oiled that rail, so any oil on the head is residual from factory install. As far as I can tell, I tightened it up as much as I possible could.
I’ve not experienced any slippage of any kind until now. Whether it’s a coincidence this coincides with the release and installation of 1.02 or not, I don’t know.
@terrence - I…[Read more]

I’ve not had the best time this evening…
I wanted to do a little print using my Woody Beech PLA. What initially was going to be a nice easy print turned out to be a bit of a nightmare…
I’ve raised a support ticket for this, but part of this process may be of use to someone in future…
Essentially, my evening has been spent trying to sort…[Read more]

@simonhoult, I did see that post and wonder if that was something similar which I was seeing here.
I’ve re-printed it using the new 1.02 version of AutoMaker, however, this time I’ve used Black PLA instead of White.
I looks a bit better but there is still some banding in the print.

I printed this with 1.0.04 (?? the most recent up to the current 1.02 :))
I’ll definitely try this again with 1.02 as you suggest.
