This is why the heads fail this way… I just heated up the heater block that hadnt leaked to 240°C with my temp controled soldering iron.. and guess what just pulled straight out of the heater block.. yup the hex insert that holds the o-ring in place.. just pulled clean out. So guess the threads are on their limit and a bit…[Read more]

Hey Ben, you interested in selling the Palette Plus, I’m tempted to get it sorted as I use Repetier and Cura with the custom needle valve software Mike I and others have developed.
Cheers

@17bt Funny you should mention that.. I dont think i need my verniers to check it though.. problem is pretty obvious! I thought these latest heads had fixed these issues but doesn’t seem to be the case. Still I will turn it into something useful yet 🙂

So I got a new Dual Material Head batch 2017 (apparently) though the serial numbers date is wk48 16 due to serial numbering issues. This was a few months ago but only got round to using it now as been using the SingleX heavily with Carbon Filaments.
Anyway after calibration its failed on right hand nozzle on 1st print, left…[Read more]

Yup understandable with the machine shipping. When the kits are ready, I will upload a You Tube video showing the complete process from start to finish. The trickiest part really is cutting the inital machine into two parts near the base. After that its no more complicated that assembling any part assembled 3D printer 🙂

Good point!!!!!, it doesn’t have to be a Robox Dual, Robox single will work just as well. We are pushing on with getting the kits done just time at the moment. We are also offering a conversion service where we would do the work for you if you want to save time and hassle. Will provide updates ASAP.

There is pics of my machine that’s modded and I use daily with CURA and Repetier with full support for needle valve tech. Automaker just doesn’t have the functionality I need. I had offered to discuss with CEL sharing the IPR around this but I can only conclude they are not interested after 6 months of trying. Would have…[Read more]

@James B @17bt
I’ve been through a good few numbers of heads too,, 6 (duals) I think in total over just under 2 years all from leaking seals (4 through just using Automaker and not Repetier/Cura). The later heads supposedly fix this.. but there are inherent design issues with it. Myself and others have designed an aftermarket head that sti…[Read more]

Thanks for the interest.. just getting the right number of kit parts together now based on interest and projected interest and will post more updates soon. Unfortunately both myself and Mike have day jobs and family commitments too but aiming for the original projection of a couple of months from when I started this post.
Cheers

Might be worth drying out your filament, put it in your kitchen oven at 50°C for about 8 hours then re-try. Only need to do this if the filament has been out for a few days or do you immediately put it back into an air tight container with dessicant as soon as you have finished?

Charles Jackson replied to the topic PETG melting in bowden tube? in the forum Materials 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Ive had that happen with PLA because the ambient was set to 40°C and that plus the thermal conduction from the heater element all the way back along the feed path to the xcarriage caused the PLA to soften and jam in the Bowden tube.
Suprising that its happening with PETG, given its glass transition temp is a good 20 to 25 °C higher than PLA (c…[Read more]

Heres a simple print that done in el cheapo PLA that I got as a job lot and use for trial prints. 0.3mm layer height measuring 270mm tall. Used CURA 3.4 but no special settings or anything that couldnt be replicated in Slic3r or Automaker. I think it shows off the consistency of the layers 🙂

Thanks for the interest. I will post some pic’s of a tall bits I’ve printed. Yes can do any build height you like.. however, we are doing a production run of the 400mm high laser cut plates.. so would have to check whether or not can squeeze in a different height request within that batch.
Yes all the work will carry a…[Read more]

haha… that’s F35 aerospace duct tape .. its very sought after you know 😉 Not sure whether to offer the LED panel light as part of the kit as it would mean cutting into the hinged door plastic to do it properly but duct tape works well. And the hinged, magnetic clasp lower door means you don’t really need to open the upper.…[Read more]
