I have been printing with Shaxon filament, both ABS and PLA, and have been having VERY good results. I printed a couple of roller racks to hold the spools and it works great. In the western US, Fry’s Electronics carries Shaxon for $25 (US) for a 1kg spool.

16/12/2014 at 5:53 pm #11840Ya! As above, this post is useless without pics. 🙂
16/12/2014 at 6:13 pm #11842When I have the time, I fully intend to post some pics, but, snarky comments like:
“Ya! As above, this post is useless without pics” will not motivate me to do do so. Even with the smiley face attached, there were nicer ways to express that request.
(no, I am NOT overly sensitive, I just prefer to be civil)

16/12/2014 at 6:47 pm #11848It’s a bit of friendly banter. Used often across internet forums in the UK. Apologies if you took offence, none was intended, really it wasn’t.
Let me try again.
It would be great to see the results of your tests, especially if you’re using Black ABS as I cannot get the CEL stuff to stick together very well at the moment and I’m looking at alternatives to use, I tried T-Glase and it works well but the cost in the UK is a bit high for casual use (a third more than CEL filament).

Still - yo have to give a credit for the smiley face!
I am sure you just misread the facial expression. 🙂
I definitively didn’t see the post anyhow offensive. This forum here, at the worst, the most childish point is incredibly sensible and mature. And, as it seems, on its own - without any moderating…
16/12/2014 at 9:56 pm #11863Photos, as promised, The orange rook is printed 2″ (50.8mm) tall in Shaxon Orange ABS. The Minion is in Shaxon White PLA, they black parts are in Shaxon Black PLA (custom parts for a customer (and no, one is NOT a gun, they are frame rail plugs), still with brims attached) and the blue mug and tea bag holder is in Shaxon Blue ABS. I should have some black ABS to play with later tonight.

16/12/2014 at 10:01 pm #11870Forgot to mention, all were printed with normal profile and using the same filament parameters as the default Robox filaments.

16/12/2014 at 11:42 pm #11882Obviously I’m interested to see what the ABS prints came out like and the results look good. How resilient are the prints to, for want of a better word, squishing?
I find with the CEL ABS in Black (not so much green or white) that if I squeeze a tall, hollow cylindrical printed object the layers fracture and it breaks in two along the horizontal.
17/12/2014 at 8:35 am #11898@n6mon Definitively nice prints! You sure you printed them with Robox? Just joking - I do recognise Robox issues in your prints: hollow/not filled in walls in blue print, last layer not being perfect in first black print, base of the rook. Still, what is interesting is that there are no blobbing, all layers are uniform and one above other, no wraping, etc.
If it is due to material only - I’m switching to it right now. But I suspect that you were lucky and got Robox at its best issue.
Only problem is that I can’t find where to buy it UK.
19/12/2014 at 10:00 pm #12185David,
Finally got my Shaxon Black ABS last night. Attaching 4 pictures, the left one is always with Cel-Robox ABS and the right one is always with Shaxon ABS. The holes are printed and I tapped one hole in each 8-32 ( I am in the US, after all).
No layer separation when tapping the holes and the screws fed right in (and the clearance size on the holes was undersized for the tap, but it still went in fine).
Both parts were printed in draft, no brim, Robox default parameters. You can see in one picture that the Robox ABS did curl at one corner, but the Shaxon did not. Could just be an aberation, but I am VERY happy with the Shaxon filament (so far, fingers crossed, etc)
