The latest version of AM sets an arbitrary maximum zoom level. Please get rid of it.

It’d be nicer @djanszen if when you clicked on the model it zoomed to its extents, and placed it in the middle of the active screen area, this way when you zoomed in, it wouldn’t get clipped and need to be panned around. Just my 2¢ 🙂

PS It’s what Cura can do if you check the dialog box preferences for this.

Of course I do pan to the spots that I want to zoom in on.

Try v3.01.00. You’ll see the new version prevents close zooming, perhaps to eliminate the possibility of clipping the image, which is what sucks about it.

Ben (tech support) suggested making a dual component STL file, pre-aligned that is, so it won’t matter whether I can zoom in or not. Will give this a try for the next version of my parts, but naturally I still want to be able to validate alignment. Extreme precision is necessary in my case; I had to modify the head parameters a bit to get the two extrusions to line up exactly, both X and Y. Haven’t attempted to check the Z axis.

@djanszen I didn’t realise you were doing two material prints, and using the zoom feature for aligning individual STLs. IBen is right, it is best to do multipart models within the same CAD model, and create a multi part STL, as the origins are common. Obviously, sometimes you have CAD files from two different sources, but I’d still try and combine them in one drawing, align in the CAD package, export as multiple STLs, and/or group using the CMD or Windows key to Add Models using the AutoMaker dialog box.

In theory, if the head is calibrated using the test piece, the firmware knows where the two nozzles are in X&Y, nozzle height takes care of the Z, so you model should line up, if it is imported correctly, and has a shared origin. If not, something is not set up right, or there is play in the system. For me it was the PEI sheet moving that affected things the most.

@djanszen The zoom feature has not been changed between AM 3.00.00 and AM 3.01.00.

I operate two Betas and four Production Robox.
