    Dear All,

I purchased a SmartReel of PolyWood for a project I’m working on. It’s a rectangular picture frame with sloping and curved features. There are no overhangs greater than 40° from vertical.

I’ve tried many times now (about 5 times) and the first layer seems to stick well to the bed, but the subsequent layers of one corner seem to “peel away” from the 1st layer while it’s printing. This is only apparent when the job is completely finished.

The job comes off the bed easily, I don’t need to force it off so I know that the removal process is not causing the issue.

I’ve attached 4 pictures of various attempts. I printed most at default “Normal” settings and the latest one with extra perimeter walls (x4) and half speed, The “half speed” attempt took 6.5 hours. But it made no difference.

As you can imagine, the process is frustrating because of the time it takes each time but also because of the huge waste of this expensive filament.

I suspect the problem may be due to a slightly bendy print bed or possibly shrinkage of the print.

    Any ideas?

    Jez

if you rotate it 90° is it further from the edges of the bed? this might help.

If you print a small section or a small print in the area of the bed where it is delaminating does it have the same flaw?

Which corner is delaminating? Perhaps there is something causing a flow issue when the head is in that region?

Ensure the head is firmly tightened and there is nothing under the print surface which could throw off the levelling.

@jezshed I see underextrusion and possibly a nozzle height issue. Have you calibrated your print head? What are the calibration values and what model of print head are you using?

I operate two Betas and one Production Robox.

Thank you so much for your replies.

I did indeed try rotating the print (probably attempt #2 or #3) but that didn’t help although the problem did seem to stay associated with a particular area of the bed. However the problem was completely solved after I performed a head height calibration.

I didn’t even realise that a head height calibration was possible, I’ve not done it before but then my printer is only a couple of months old now. Maybe things need re-calibration after transport/shipping etc??

Anyway, thank you once again, it’s printing this lovely material really well now.

    Cheers,

    Jez

    Hi Ben,

I forgot to answer your specific question (although you’ve now solved my problem).

The head is a QuickFill single material dual nozzle.
