I am having issue with the purge. Everytime that I purge the material, the material actually sticks to the head and never comes off which ruins the rest of the purge?

Nothing is sticking to the bed and is dragging everywhere the head goes?

what exactly is wrong or what do I need to do to fix the issue?

    Thanks

@dlayton23 I am guessing it is the fine nozzle and not both. This is caused by a malformed nozzle. You can keep the door open during the purge and use tweezers to pull the material off the nozzle or you can file a ticket with CEL and see if they will replace it.

If you want to start a purge with the door open, just push in the tiny switch near the left door hinge point and click start. Otherwise, a card or paperclip can be used to open the door lock lever after the purge has started.

Yes that is what I have been doing, just pulling the material off the head as it goes.

Actually the issue is with both heads but yes more so with the Fine nozzle. I don’t want to have to replace anything as the printer is actually brand new. The issue is at the end and beginning of each line on the purge when it is making the bigger blob, that is where it is sticking to the nozzle and dragging around.

I’ve been doing the same - whizzing in with the tweezers and grabbing any detritus before the print gets going - not seeing the issue so much with PLA though now as compared to ABS

@dlayton23 It sounds like you have two issues. 1. The nozzle height calibration is off and 2. The bed isn’t clean. Wipe the bed with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth before every print and rerun your nozzle height calibration. Use a thinner piece of paper and make sure that you can feel just a tiny bit of drag between the paper and the nozzle. It should slide freely, but should not grab and should not be loose.

Based on that description it is not a head problem. One of my heads has a malformed nozzle that causes the filament to curl up onto the nozzle instead of down onto the bed. It is only an issue with the purge, I thought maybe you had a similar issue.

This is a recent problem that has now happened with my printer. It sticks to the nozzle more times that it doesn’t and it isn’t just with purging. I have had to open the door and then remove the curled up filament with the tweezers. But this seems to brought back the filament non-sticking problem on occasions. When the filament sticks the printing is fine, even if it produces gaps on the first layer, but I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to get it to kick off the initial waste by itself again. I make absolutely sure the PEI is well cleaned with an isopropyl wipe.

“if there is anything I can do to get it to kick off the initial waste by itself again.”

One of the ‘fixes’ suggested here was to raise slightly silicone wiper by inserting something beneath it (folded small piece of paper for instance).

I am suffering the same way you are and I am not sure what’s different from before. But as always I like to sit next to printer for the first layer and usually just grab tweezers and clean excess that is stuck to the nozzle before it moves away…
