After having Been Informed I’m going to a masquerade event of sorts at the weekend, I thought I’d put something together instead of spending £ to get something boring.
I wasn’t feeling up to going fully 3D, but finding https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3350 suggested I might be able to get away with a thin-skin print that juuuuust flexed enough.A test print in PLA (on the left) proved the concept worked (which is handy, as I don’t have any NinjaFlex), and so I started fiddling around in Fusion 360 as a learning experience using the original mask as a dimensional template.
Reasonably happy with the result (also printed in test-colour PLA) though I might tweak it a bit to make it stronger near the tie-points. It -did- reinforce the point that I need to have a clearer mental picture going in, especially for “art”, as I started off thinking “tribal” and wound up… more… “wild hunt”, I think.

One trick with PLA that works well. Warning, you may burn yourself…take care.
Heat the bed up to around 100°C using this gcode command:
m140 s100
Rest the printed PLA object on the bed surface and allow it to heat up.
Lift the object off the bed and bend it as required while it is still hot. Keep it in this shape until it cools and becomes firm again.
Turn the print bed off using this command:
m140 s0
