I can’t find the link in your post, but it is:

Good question Pelgrim. Just in case it make sense, it pledge the early bird. I can still cancel if it is not suitable for the Robox. And $25 (approx. 17 euro) is not a huge amount of money if we don’t need it. Thanks for the link!

18/06/2014 at 11:46 am #3828I’ve early-birded it just in case, but this post might be worth re-reading: http://www.cel-robox.com/forums/topic/alternate-bed-materials/

Thanks for that reminder.
After reading that again I simply asked them what their advantage is over the polyetherimide used in the robox prind bed.Their answer:
“I have never used Polyetherimide, so i can not say for sure what the performance difference is. However, I know that the reason that I have never explored is cost. Also our build plates provide extra functionality with the Magnetic Bases. ”Now that I think of it, magnets and high temp. are not so compatible, depending the type of magnet.

18/06/2014 at 8:19 pm #3848I haven’t look yet if I have an answer, but I couldn’t see straight away how to cut it, so I asked.
Also, the PEI bed in the Robox is held by clips., according to the above mentioned thread. I can’t see any height of the PEI board. Maybe this GeckoTek won’t fit because of the height (to thin or to big). But for 17 euro I’m happy to gamble. Also, I have another 30 days to cancel.Maybe Robox can shed a light on this? @Pete or someone else?
19/06/2014 at 9:41 am #3861Their answer on the magnet problem:
“We are using high temperature ceramic magnets that operate at 200C with out loss of properties”
@medusadelft : the description from the early bird (the next reward is similar)
Early Bird Special!! Get one GeckoTek Plate cut to fit any print area smaller than 12″ x 12″.-

I also never got an answer about the thickness of the plate.
Does anyone know the PRECISE dimensions of the Robox plate?
21/06/2014 at 2:12 pm #3945strange, I got both answers withing a day.
The claim to have made the bed of polymers and “nano technology”, that must translate to nano materials I guess.
So I googled for polymers and I see a lot of pages which mention laser cutters, it’s nothing more then a clue, but it’s something.
I suppose the nano materials will have no effect on the way it is cut.In any case, I have a hobby sized diamond saw laying around,
it will do the job if customizing is needed.java (EE), JavaFX, HTML, GIS) programmer, database wizard, framework inventor, looking for a job ! http://roboxing.com/wizards -
