I thought I would add this topic as I didn’t find a similar one. I haven’t done a lot of printing yet with Robox so perhaps these are features already integrated. I’ll add more as appropriate.
- Optimized heat-up: when starting a print, it would be faster if the bed heating, the heat heating, and the model transfering all start at the same time. This would cut a few minutes off the start-up time, as that is when the user is present to check that the print has started correctly.
- A “center” button to center the model on the build platform
- Support visualization: this would be helpful to see where automatic support is generated, and perhaps a quantification of this
- More advanced support features: I have seen other types of supports (“trees”) that use a lot less material and “grow” from the bottom and get wider at the top where they are required. This would not only save material but speed up print times.
January 21, 2017 at 10:13 pm #36119@fgroeli The heatup process has been optimized for best safety. The bed needs to heat first because it takes longer and if the head is kept at temperature without filament flowing it will be damaged. The model transfer needs to happen first so that the printer can know what its target temperatures are. The current optimization is really good and the extra few minutes taken to ensure that a safe and repeatable operation are worth it for me.
The center function is already there, though not in a button. When you load a model, provided the model is built correctly, the model is already centered in the bed. If you want to position a model in the center, just click on the model to select it and enter the center coordinates in the move boxes. These are X=105, Y=75
Support visualization has been requested and is on the enhancement list.
Additional support is controlled by the slicer and is on the enhancement list.

See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/benJanuary 22, 2017 at 1:42 am #36122If I may please join the debate, there are two very minor points I’d like to raise -
Would it be possible to have a single “remove all” button in “layout” to augment the single remove button. Mostly (I suggest) when users have finished a print or batch of prints, they want a clear deck for the next operation.
Second, Could the “auto layout” feature auto layout the models actually on the build platform. Every time I try printing a group of models - particularly when I have assembled a group using the duplicate facility - the models are scattered around the build area. Pressing “auto layout” arranges them all very neatly but way off the build platform.
Just thought I’d ask.

January 22, 2017 at 3:06 am #36124@kirmarlu What you are asking already exists. To clear the bed, there are two ways to do it:
- CTRL-A to select all, then Remove button or Delete key.
- Close the project and start a new one. Close is the small X at the end of the project name. Start a new one with the small + sign.
Auto Layout has been improved in 2.01.04. However, it relies on the detected bounding box of the model and the detected origin of the model to establish its patterns. If you are seeing this issue, your models are not located close to their origin points or have inclusions that are expanding the bounding box. This behavior is indicative of a model error, not a program error.

Can the next verions use the filename as default title of the project Tabs, instead of the current Untitled-####-####?

January 23, 2017 at 3:29 pm #36175Could the layer count be moved slightly to the right of the progress bar. At the moment, at the latter part of the print, you cannot read how many layers have been printed.

I doubt if I am the only one with this issue, and it is software resolvable.
February 10, 2017 at 6:08 am #36825Looks like you’re running at 1280×1024. I didn’t realise it until I looked, but you can actually buy a new monitor that has that as a native resolution.
I agree the UI acts a little goofy sometimes when it is smaller than 1920×1080, but as I said elsewhere, fixing minor UI issues is likely near the bottom of the to-do list.
Hey, CEL guys, don’t your degree granting institutions have co-op/intern work programs? Less expensive labour for the low hanging fruit!
