I’ve had a couple of prints that I consider to be very good quality, both from surface finish and detail. Then again I’ve had a few problems as well. I printed a flatpack Christmas tree yesterday (too basic to post here) and risked not cleaning the bed. It printed without a problem. I understand through technical support an upgrade to the printer (presumably Automaker) is coming soon. I suppose if the guys at CEL answered every post across this forum, that’s all they would be doing. From my experience in work situations, resolutions to problems and overall improvements take a little time. There’s no point announcing an improvement if it hasn’t been satisfactorily tested. I’d say that I am generally happy with the printer and am learning it’s quirks.

Thanks Smitty. So your ticket got answered in a week? I called and they asked my ticket number and he told me over the phone he would make sure it got taken care of today. Funny thing is that I know today is already over in UK and absolutely no response to my ticket. Not even a “we saw it and we’re working on it”. Not even a “we saw it and we’re busy making a sandwich”. I’m understand they may have more success than they were expecting but if you’re going to produce a product with the financial backing of CEL - chances are they can afford a support staff. As soon as people catch wind of support horror stories and no known 20 micron prints, the sales will go down. I absolutely love the idea of two extruder valves but they aren’t doing me much good in the box. I’d take a reliable printer with a good support over innovation that is dead in the water any day. If they can respond within a reasonable time - I’d be a loyal customer and convince all my friends to buy one. As it stands right now - I’m on the fence.

Up to this point Rapide lite has done nothing but amaze me with response. I just saw this video of the 200xl printing the eiffel town with huge overhangs and no supports! I have to say - I don’t think I could do this with my robox. Also couldn’t come close to the 400mm vertical build area!

    Here’s their Indiegogo:

    http://igg.me/at/rapide-lite/x/9124026

I had ordered one and got the XL and double extruder upgrades but right now I’m bummed because I had them ship it to my Australian address and I’m still in Hawaii! With all the upgrades for dual extruder and an extra 200mm build height I still am cheaper than my Robox by $400 and Ethan the CEO emails me back within a business day. What a refreshing change. They’re about to hit another perk goal and give free LCD’s out to all perk purchasers!

    Hi StreatSi,

sorry I am still 3D-Printer noob and I am not so good with the terms. But yes the gantry is not parallel to the bed. I saw these G Codes, but I am not sure how and where to enter them. I really want to try to fix this by myself, but I am not sure what does this means for the warranty.

    Cheers

Good work, someplace we need to create a repository for material settings, I think we can get ColourFabb no problem in the UK and hopefully, it’s a lot less that the t-glase costs us.

That said, I’m getting excellent results with the CEL ABS and I’m starting to understand the nozzle height adjustment and how to tweak it to get the best results.

I just got a roll of black ColorFabb _XT filament from PrintedSolid.com. To test it, I printed this vase:

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y3r66e1fafqd6tt/AAA4vyc1-gK2u-Ba0WEbToXTa?dl=0

    from this download:

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28052

I used the 2mm wall version and printed it on fine. It took almost 18 hours. My observations from the print are:

    1. There seems to be an overextrusion issue on any solid layers. I have seen this issue with other filaments as well but it is really obvious on the base layers on this print. I think this may be a Sli3r issue but may also be something in the profile settings.

    2. Bridging is good compared to ABS or PLA but not as good as T-Glase. I will post bridge test photos soon.

    3. There is no curl on overhangs like every other filament I have used. It is hard to see in the photos and even in person; I will do the Make overhang test and post that as well. Most of this observation comes from watching the print and seeing that the material stayed where it was supposed to be.

    4. The material is almost odorless but coats the inside of the printer in a fine haze. I don’t notice any ill effects like I do with ABS, which makes my eyes sting a little and makes my nose itch.

    5. The material seems very strong. When one of the thin walls did break, it didn’t break on the layer edges but as if it were one injection molded or cast piece. It broke in brittle fashion, more than ABS, more than PLA even.

    6. Lots of spiderwebbing. Observation during print points to buildup on the nozzle being pulled behind it and making very fine threads. Since this is a polyester material, that is expected.

    7. Bed adhesion is excellent. The part did not separate from the bed even though I hadn’t cleaned it for several prints.

Overall, this seems like an excellent material for general use. Color seems to be even and complete; it is almost perfectly opaque in the thicknesses I have printed. I will run some dimensional stability prints and see what the shrink rate is.

    Amidy,

Thanks for the kind words. I understand when the support staff gets slammed this can happen. As an engineer, I have worked for several TELCOs and ISPs and support has minutes to respond. I realize the sla here is “we’ll get to it when we can” but to not even update the ticket to say you’re looking into it when a customer is down for two days…. and then a weekend….. I am keeping my hopes up that they’ll make it all right and if they do I will post that as well. I’m just being honest here and saying that I called the number and told them my ticket had been in queue for more than a day and they said it was “unacceptable” and that their turnaround time was “12 hours” which leads me to believe they are getting slammed or that the support staff is slower than expected. Either way I’m ok with being patient as this is a new company - if this is the MO for all time - they will lose customers and quickly. They have a very innovative design but others will follow and may innovate to something even quicker. I’m a Robox fan but this is the reality - they may have had an overwhelming success and have to make adjustments to provide good customer service in a timely manner to keep up with that success. I just bought another 3d printer (rapide-lite - http://igg.me/at/rapide-lite/x/9124026 ) and am looking forward to comparing both the printer and the support.

I have to say, Ethan from Rapide gets back to me within a day, that’s after they’ve already sold over 1000 units, but I’m keeping this into perspective because their users are just getting their perks now. I got the dual extruder 200XL which is the 200mm model that has a heigh upgrade to 400mm and a dual extruder upgrade. Beautiful silver frame to match my macbook pro…. Looking forward to it!

Smitty, which version did you print? I think version 5 was 104% but the nut sizes weren’t perfect. Version 6 corrected them. I’ve been updating on Thingiverse. Also I made a backplate with holes based on David’s suggestion. All the parts including the “holes” option are up on thingiverse. Version 6 if printed at 102 in ABS should give you what you’re looking for… if you printed version 5 - no sweat but you may have to do a little adjusting.

I’m sure Robox will do a good job but I get the sense like they’re swamped or understaffed. I bet when you sell a printer this popular you have a ton of tickets that just come in as people adjust to the printer and learn how to use it and its software. I’m up to almost two days with no reply… and now we have a weekend so I’m afraid I’m out of luck unless support is coming in on saturday.

interesting developments here, it would be nice to see a video showing how everything is assembled with @clicky‘s reel and re-winded, I am having a hard time imagining the assembly process without having printed the parts since I put the ABS away for some time. @uzbeckin they are probably scratching their head at the issue you are having and would probably like to provide you a solid answer so they are doing their homework, some tickets take longer than other but they will eventually get back to you. Oh I doubt that they will charge you anything at all for the repair, probably just the shipping, but they are in a better position to say. Hopefully you can sort it out soon and good luck with your move!

    Hello everybody,

I have just received my new printer, but sadly there is definite a problem with. It make a very strange noise when the print head is moving up and down. The noise appears somewhere in the middle and sounds like something is broken. Does anyone have faced this issue.

Here is a video worth a thousand words:
