An interesting variation on the input material for 3D printing.
This one uses plastic pellets rather than filaments as the form of input material.
20/08/2014 at 8:11 am #5321I saw it this morning,
it’s a huge investment, I’m happy with my robox - strooder tandem I will have,
a lot cheaper.
java (EE), JavaFX, HTML, GIS) programmer, database wizard, framework inventor, looking for a job ! http://roboxing.com/wizards20/08/2014 at 11:09 am #5323looks nicly built, no details on estimated layer resolution, very very expensive.
like the amount of materials that you can use. think i will stick with the Robox as it looks about the best on paper.
20/08/2014 at 8:42 pm #5341As interesting as it can be, printing directly with pellets has one major drawback…. it cannot manage color repeat-ability, you likely will not be able to maintain a proper color mix ratio when you need to add pellets to your printer and you can’t wait for the container inside to be empty before adding more, and even keeping a bag of pre-mixed pellets defies the whole purpose in the first place.

And at this price tag, there is definitely other solution combinations available, like Pelgrim mentionned, Robox and Strooder (for extruding filament) is not even close to half the price of this printer.
you could even buy readily available extruder and still not come close to this price tag.
$3,400 is steep, I’d prefer getting the Ice1 SLS printer at that stage.
PS: You can’t either print in different colors as you’d need to empty the pellets container before switching. Seems to be designed as 1xPrint=1xColor
