    Hello Robox pro users

Farnell is postponing another time this morning my robox pro.

Initially planed in may, then in june, after that in july, and now mid of august.

Does anybody know about big issues on the printers manufacturing ?

I’m wonder if I should cancel the order…

When have you recieved your equipments ?

    Thanks in advance.

I bought my RoboxPro directly from CEL estimated delivery was end Febuary, delivered mid/late April, 2 months late. There were significant software issues which caused initial delay which were fixed. I am not aware of other delays in manufacturing the Pro.

I was under the impression that RS was a prime outlet source, but they don’t list it!

Maybe demand outstrip manufacturing capacity, looking at CEL shop new orders are also on back-order for Q3 (July->October).

Basically a good printer but needs more attention to correctly calibrate than the original small Robox.

    Hope this usefull

actually, RS was referencing it under the code 168-2852 and a webpage of this article was describing the pro (I have a quotation for it at about 4k€ without VAT).

Now, if you try to look for this reference, you will not find it on RS website.

So I’m wondering if problems in manufacturing are blocking the deliveries, for RS and Farnell…

I know that with the exception of a few parts carried over from the original Robox the Pro is manufactured and assembled in house by CEL. It could be that the orders are batched - all the parts for a certain number of units are manufactured and then the printers are assembled, which would account for a delay. This is how I would do it since it would minimize the number of tooling setups required and also minimize the personnel since you can have one or two people working on manufacturing parts and then those same people move to assembly. I don’t see the market for the Pro supporting a dedicated manufacturing line and assembly line just yet.

Maybe, but this should be planed before to sell a product. And you know prior to receive orders what the leadtime is for assembling them when you prepare a new product.

So, when you answer with a deadline, you must keep it, or explain.

Issues are not unusual on this type of product, and can be easily understood.

    Nevertheless, it’s a little bit disappointing… 🙁

Several new staff are starting now and will pick up the pace for manufacturing.

We had no intention of over-reaching on this product, we will keep changing it as required to make sure every batch as as good as possible. We have been making 5 at a time and are about to increase batch size following some improvements to the parts and to our production line. The functionality is the same, these are just changes to make things easier to assemble.

Recent software improvements have smoothed the new user process further, this development is moving forward every day.

@lobat37 I suspect that the vendor chose not to add the delay to increase sales. I don’t think that CEL promised the vendor more than they will be able to deliver.

i’m still thinking about the roboxpro but is it worth the money? any feedback from proud owners appreciated.

if i buy i’ll give the order to the devil. i expect it’ll take the same time for them to ship and i’m not in a major rush. nothing against rs, i just prefer to support the smaller guys rather than the goliaths.

@chrisedwards I just got the first US Pro operational and it seems like a good machine. I did a full height spiral print and it worked fine with good quality results. It is much quieter than the original Robox, seems very rigid, and so far works as I would expect. I saw some initial instability with the onboard interface, but it appears I got a defective PSU unit and once that was replaced it has been stable.
