Hi, has anyone tried PLA in combination with PVA on the dual material ROBOX? Recommended settings for PVA - as well for cleaning the nozzles?
Thx
29/04/2017 at 4:58 am #38993@hips-ter I tried pure PVA once. It didn’t work well. Atlas Support from FormFortura works with PET though it must be kept very cool during use and it likes to warp. If you overheat PVA it will clog the print head heat block, so you have to be really careful not to let it sit at temperature.
PLA plus PVA should be fine, though I would suggest a PVA mixture like Atlas over pure PVA.
I operate two Betas and four Production Robox.
I am the US/Canada Technical Support engineer for the Robox.
See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/ben02/05/2017 at 8:36 am #39017PVA is a pain to work with. It sucks up moisture which ruins it or makes it stick in awkward places, it also melts at a really low temperatures, even the extruder can melt it. Finally it can easily be damaged by heat as Ben said, this is the main issue which wouldn’t be too hard to deal with on it’s own but adding all these flaws up makes it very hard to use.
We have been testing an excellent material which softens and dissolves in Ethanol Alcohol so is far more stable in use and storage while still being safe to work with.
We are just waiting for manufacturing to go ahead on this, it should be with us quickly once it gets going.

I’m looking for an easy dissolving support material for PLA. I didn’t got PVA to flow at all so far; HIPS and ABS is problematic due to shrinkage. And Limonene is quite expensive to remove HIPS.
Pls let me know when this new material is available. Do you have already a brand name?
Thx, Volker
