My Robox is a Blue Commercial Version

    Hello all,

After seeing some great results with wood filament and others, I was wondering what are the pros and cons of using robox filament against competitors filament. I know in terms of availability, there is a wide range out there but does the robox work better with its own filament.

I will add that I am slightly afraid to move away from the robox filament with it being my new baby and I don’t know the settings I would enter

I suspect that CEL is sourcing their filament from similar places where some other manufacturers. Theoretically it should be one of the best filaments around (at least I suspect all self-respecting company would claim) so having CEL’s filament you shouldn’t be losing anything.

If you go with third party filament then you need to:

    a) keep it next to the printer using some of those universal spool holders. That of course implies that you need extra space next to the printer.

    b) get some of empty CEL’s reels, use up all filament from existing CEL’s reel or print your own reel (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:547553) and then re-wind third party filament to it.

You can see here that many people did buy different kinds of third party filaments and successfully printed with them. As it goes for settings - many filament’s are coming with settings parameters printed on a small piece of paper or clearly available on the web sites where they sell the filament. Also you can always ask here.

On material’s section of this forum you can find which materials are no-go with Robox (ninja flex so far) and which caused some damage to the Robox (corrosive carbon infused PLA) or BronzeFill PLA… But I haven’t read here anyone complained of any other third party material…
