The past few times when I’ve gone to eject filament from cold it has been unable to eject. Events usually go as follows: Robox hasn’t been used for a while, I turn it on and whilst my PC boots I press the eject button. It heats up the head and you hear the extruder cogs turn, but the filament doesn’t move. I start automaker and it tells me Robox has been unable to eject the filament, do I want to run the stuck filament routine. If I run this then it doesn’t help (again cogs turn, filament doesn’t move). However if I run a purge then eject the filament it ejects normally. It also seems to eject normally if Robox has just finished a print.
It sort of suggests it’s not letting the head get hot enough, or it is getting it hot enough but the surrounding metal hasn’t had chance to heat up enough when run from cold.
I’ve had this problem several times since AM 2.0, but never prior to that. No idea if that’s just chance though….
Has anyone else experienced this?
28/04/2016 at 9:07 pm #29454@pythag If you are using PLA are you waiting for the print head to cool before turning off the printer? I usually don’t have this issue with PLA or ABS but I do have it with PET because the eject temperature doesn’t get high enough.
I have one print head that will not eject material are all. There is something going on inside the filament path that grabs the filament. This developed over time and eventually I will have to replace the print head.
I operate two Betas and one Production Robox.
See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/ben29/04/2016 at 4:23 am #29456@pythag, I have had similar experiences using 1v03 and 2v00v01/03. Particularly with ThermoChrome PLA (other PLA not as much problem, for the few colours I tried) or Red XT (only CoPET I tried) It has now become my standard procedure to run a dummy print (e.g. the 20 mm cube) and stop after a layer or two and then do an eject.
This works with PLA but not XT. The standard eject procedure is set at 140 degC regardless and is a little too low for ejecting XT. I think they are working on a better eject procedure.
29/04/2016 at 4:14 pm #29463It’s all ABS (I’ve only ever used ABS).
I always wait for the head to fully cool before turning off - generally the print finishes whilst I’m out / asleep, so the machine sits idle for long time after each print (wasted making time I know!!!).
I wonder what temperature it uses when you press the eject button?
29/04/2016 at 4:26 pm #29464@pythag The eject temperature is always 140C. I find that ABS ejects better immediately after a print. When using ABS and PET I usually eject with the “Eject stuck filament” command under the Maintenance tab in AutoMaker as this does a minipurge before ejecting and has solved all my ejection issues.
There have been rumors of a new eject sequence in testing but I don’t know if it will be introduced anytime soon.
I operate two Betas and one Production Robox.
See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/ben06/05/2016 at 12:43 pm #29581I have the same problem: no filament eject possible.
I have always to start a “purge” first, after that it is possible.
But i got also a new printer head last week, and new version of Automaker. I have no idea if it is the new printer header or the new Automaker software.
But i can remember: when i bought the printer (with the original printer head and old Automaker software), the filament exchange was no issue.
23/05/2016 at 5:15 pm #30078How can we modify this lower temp (140C is too low; it isn’t the first time we say it, it’s too low, we have a lot of problem because of that!). I loose too lot of filament change during long print because of that !
I am sure that we can modify it in parameters file.We are waiting for too long time this correction.

diStudio3D23/05/2016 at 6:42 pm #30080@calexfr You cannot change this parameter currently. There is work being done that will solve the issue.
If you are having issues ejecting to change material during a print, you will need a replacement print head as it is a hardware issue and not a temperature issue.
I operate two Betas and one Production Robox.
