I think it would be beneficial to have the bed calibration locations vary a little bit from print to print so the spots don’t wear out from constantly being cleaned. I find the small bits of plastic that transfer from the nozzle to the bed during the calibration to be much harder to remove than larger areas.

Agreed… I’ve already mentioned this to them (although not properly, in Feature Request and so forth). If there’s enough nozzle leakage and the bed calibration points aren’t cleaned between prints, it could conceivably alter the result of the nozzle height calibration too.

I know they’re also looking into ways to do a more comprehensive topographical map of the entire bed to be able to print on a non-uniform bed.

@gid This is why I signed up for the beta - our ideas and problems are being addressed, while not as fast as we would like sometimes, it is amazing to have this much influence on a product.

I scrape my bed after every print with one of my pyramids. I use a nylon fine printed pryamid and it knocks all those little pieces off. I also use a hobby knife - very carefully! - to remove any remaining residue, then I clean the bed with IPA and a microfiber cloth after installation. This also helps make sure the bed is seated in all its clips until the new bed is available to Beta testers.

@bhudson: I’ll definitely try using the pyramid to remove those nasty bits
