I have several Robox units Kickstarter and Commercial
    Frankfurt/Main, Germany

@saiken @chrisyt Exactly that’s the problem. While Chris is right in that the heat up time is neglectable when you look at the total print time, the problem is that one can’t leave the printer on it’s own until the first layer has been successfully printed or at least begun to.

You might have to do one or even two purges, which means first heat up and cool down, remove the purged material and then heat up again and wait at least for the nozzle wipe to happen with the weapon (read: tweezers) at the ready, as in approx. 5 out 10 wipes one of the nozzles takes the wipe with it, which might ruin the print.

Overall one has to attend for approx. 10-15 minutes, precious time which could be reduce if the nozzle heater would kick in earlier and if the nozzle and bed would keep up a certain temperature for a certain time after the purge (I do understand the dilemma though that the bed needs to cool down in order to remove the purged material, I personally however detach the PEI sheet from the still warm bed to allow it to cool down quicker).

I’m aware that PLA becomes very fluid if „cooked“ for too long, but perhaps the heat up routines then should be filament-specific (I wouldn’t be surprised now, if you tell me that they already are and I just haven’t noticed 🙂
