My aim is to print using the 0.8mm Nozzle.

    • 0.6mm Layer Height
    • 1.0mm Layer Extrusion With

The aim here is a rough “printed” look and fast prints.

Using the 0.8mm Nozzle I have the following problems:

    • Filament slip -> Higher Temperature and lower speed (5 mm per second works fine but is so slow and 205 degree on PLA are set now)
    • Underextrusion -> Flow rate 1.13 fixes it
    • The base layer was set to 4mm per second, but it only does that on the base perimeter, the base “infill” still goes faster (I guess 8mm per Second) -> Manually setting the machine to half speed after starting the print works.

The slip leeds to small automatic pauses in the print and a bad look.

    My questions here are:

    • Do I do something wrong?
    • Is there a way to improve the grip of the extruder?
    • Should I use an even higher temperature?
    • Can I go any quicker with this?

This one is a bit different:

I also have the problem that Cura always wants to add extra extrusion lines on the inside of the print if the walls are “thin”. Can I somehow tell it not to, using automaker (I know that I can make custom GFiles).

Thanks for the help in advance.

@lahminator there is a bug in the slip detection. There is a fixed firmware availiable in the flexible material testing thread. Generally it shouldnt be a problem with PLA or ABS, but if you are going full throttle on the draft nozzle you might be hitting it.

@lahminator if you want you can always upgrade your Robox to that firmware version which has slip detection fixed.

    @lahminator np 🙂

Did you find out how to update firmware to 744 (if that’s the version number)? It fixes slip errors quite nicely…

No worries. Im really keen to see how your super draft profile works.

The newer firmware does not fix it. There is still filament slip and even filament movment errors. I guess the extruder just can´t handle this speed or the filament does not melt quick enough.

@lahminator It might be worth opening ticket, as extruder is supposed to be capable of such thing. It was before. Maybe something else is wrong? Maybe your’s 1.13 flow rate? Definitively worth giving it a go and ask the question directly.

I tryed it with a lot of different settings including 1.0 flow rate and it still happens.

I am solving even bigger Problems at the moment so I will not raise another ticket right now, but in order to check if it is my machine, could you try it out? As I sayed 0.6mm layer hight and 1.1mm Extrusion with in the base and 1.0 in perimeters. I tryed temps of 195 degree up to 210 and was using Robox Polar white PLA.

    I’ll see what I can do…

    I am quite intrigued myself.
