I wonder what can be done with empty reels? I thought about putting them on eBay but I kinda think the demand might be a bit limited! Straight from CEL they’re £12.50 each, but once you have at least one or two spare you really don’t need many more. It seems a waste to just ‘recycle’ them.
08/12/2014 at 10:26 pm #11162david you can reprogram them id keep them and put your third party filament on them ,say colourfabb xt on one or woodfill on another ,and then mark them up so you know there programmed to a certain material ,then when you run out reorder and respool ,thats what i plan to do with mine ,i ordered a couple of blanks when i bought the robox just waiting for them to turn up from hongkong been told on friday that they should be with me after the 15th
smitty09/12/2014 at 8:20 am #11182I am sure that for a while there’ll be people here who would be interested in them. But they are part of Robox - and worth keeping and storing new filament on as @smitty said.
BTW I am struggling with space on reels: I have two original with one nearly at the end and one spare I printed out myself - again with quite low filament on in. I am in process of printing another so I can put more (different colour) filament on them.
09/12/2014 at 12:52 pm #11187yeah i might print one of the spools myself when i get this head issue sorted ,deaf worth having a few reels floating about
smitty10/12/2014 at 1:41 pm #11307Sure, I get that you can reload them, but to be honest as I’m pretty much exclusively using CEL filament (to scared to try anything else yet other the T-GLase) I’m rapidly building a small collection of empty ones! I reckon you wouldn’t need more than a couple spare at any one time. I may be proved wrong!
10/12/2014 at 1:50 pm #11313If you’re in UK I don’t mind ‘helping’ you disposing a couple of empty reel!

(of course, for reasonable reimbursement)
10/12/2014 at 11:20 pm #11403Yup I’m in the UK. Should have a spare one imminently, just watching the green ABS dwindle away to nought…
11/12/2014 at 8:11 am #11407If you have thingiverse account - you can send personal message there and I’ll give you e-mail address.
BTW my green is near the end, too… Now is time to print @uzbeckin reel winder
11/12/2014 at 10:02 am #11425I’m just boring a load of holes through that very model, I’m a filament scrooge!
11/12/2014 at 10:12 am #11429Even so…
14/12/2014 at 12:41 pm #11600spoke to chris elsworthy on twitter last night sent him a msg about maybe starting a refill service for robox users ,send your old reel back get it refilled and get a % off the cost ,he seemed very interested and said they had spoke about maybe doing this free returns on the spool and maybe 20% off when you get a refill ,seems good to me if your not gonna refill the spools yourself ,said he was going to have to work out the details but would get back in touch about it
