Last evening I had a problem with AutoMaker 1.01.04 to detect the Robox printer. I used the printer in the morning and everything worked fine.
I tried it on two different computers (mac, macbook) and both had the same problem. When I tried to go the cel-robot.com support forum it was down as well. Is there a relation between these two problems. Is AutoMaker trying to contact the robot server and hangs. (I could not stop AutoMaker, I had to force stop it).
Please remove the dependency between using AutoMaker and the availability of the server if there is any.
August 6, 2015 at 4:00 pm #20147@microcan AutoMaker does not require an internet connection to operate, only to check for updates. Please check your spelling - the forum is http://www.cel-robox.com/community and the support portal is http://www.cel-robox.com/support I get a 404 not found error using the spelling you provided above.
The issue with your Robox not connecting may be related to several things. First, disconnect the Robox and turn off the Robox and the computer(s) and wait 30 seconds, then turn them back on again. Once the computer has fully booted, turn on the Robox and plug in the USB cable. Make sure that the USB cable is fully inserted into its jack in both the computer and the Robox.
If the Robox is still not detected by AutoMaker, turn off the Robox and unplug both the USB and power cables. Make sure AutoMaker is running on the computer. Press and hold the button in the center of the reel hub and plug in the USB cable. Release the button. AutoMaker should detect the printer. You should be able to plug in the power cable, turn on the power switch, and use the printer normally. This usually means there is an issue with a USB hub inline with the printer.
If that doesn’t work, make sure you have a good USB cable and remove any USB hub or repeater and use a 3 ft USB cable.
If that still doesn’t work, open a ticket with CEL for further troubleshooting and repair.

See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/benAugust 7, 2015 at 4:02 pm #20266@bhudson The spelling in the post was indeed wrong, but I have cel-robox.com as favorite so that could not have gone wrong. (The auto correction replaces robox with robot 🙁 )
When I start AutoMaker I get a message “You are using the most up to date version of Automaker.” so Automaker is checking for updates every time you start it. When I physically disconnect the network and start AutoMaker I get a message “Unable to check for new version” and it functions as normal as you described. But when I had this problem the message did not appear and I could not stop Automaker (deadlock?).
The USB port was detected by the Mac I checked it in the System Information. When I disconnected the USB cable it disappeared from the list, when I appeared again when plugged it in. I do not think USB is the problem. Since the update message did not appear I suspect a problem with this part of the software. As far as I can see it first tries to contact the update server and after this it shows the Robox status.
What is the server name or IP address that is contacted. I can try if I can force the problem by making only this server unavailable.
The Robox is fully functional and I did not see this problem again.
August 7, 2015 at 8:56 pm #20269@microcan I don’t have the server name. Sorry.
I suspect you had a hung application, especially as the Robox is now functional. I have run AutoMaker without a network connection many times with no issues, but I use Windows so it may be a Mac issue.

See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/benAugust 10, 2015 at 7:50 am #20299This weekend I had the same problem again. The support forum was unavailable and Automaker did not detect the Robox printer.
I tried it on a Windows PC as well, the same problem:
- the light in the Robox printer is white
- there is not update message
- the Robox printer is not detectedThe problem is that you can’t print.
I have found a workaround. If you disconnect the network (disconnect network cable or disable WIFI) before you start Automaker the message “Unable to check for new version”. The Robox is detected and the light turns to blue. This works on both Mac and PC.
So the problem is in the part of the code that is skipped by the network test. Where can I file a bug report?
August 10, 2015 at 9:03 am #20301Hi guys
We’ve been having problems with our web server this weekend, it’s also the server that hosts update files for AutoMaker.
I’m wondering whether you’ve discovered a bug that is related to the web server being partially up but unable to respond properly to requests.
I’ll investigate this now - we’re in the process of preparing the release of AutoMaker 1.02.00 so I’ll see if there’s something that needs changing prior to release.

Ian

See my 3D Hub site at https://www.3dhubs.com/phoenix/hubs/benAugust 11, 2015 at 7:32 am #20309@siymon So do not have to file a bug report? Hopefully I have narrowed it down to a few lines of code to investigate. It is the first software issue I had, so software development team does a pretty decent job.
