I am having problems updating to 2.01.04, I get a box come up saying :- ” Unable to contact update server, update not available.”
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why does the build plate have to be removed before nozzle height calibration? Can it be safely done without removing the plate? I ask because I am considering securing the plate with special double sided tape an don’t want to be removing it frequently.

Wow! What a difference a flat plate makes, every layer smooth and perfect, my only worry now is plate shift.
It’s a shame that getting the plate flat is so labour intensive, although the results are worth a bit of effort I hope I don’t have to go through this too frequently.

I have now confirmed that the “messy first layer” issue was caused by an uneven build plate. After a lot of time spent twisting and bending I managed to get mine fairly flat and got perfect first layers. I think I have found the problem, my build plate doesn’t sit flat on the bed, it arches up a little in the middle, when the head does its bed levelling cycle the build plate is pushed down on to the bed and the head sets its zero position there, the plate then springs up a little reducing the gap for the first layer, hence the messy overflow. My first layer is very untidy, it looks like too much plastic is being extruded causing overflow and lumps. I have tried adjusting the flow mid print but even going down to 75% doesn’t seem to make much difference. Other layers look fine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi BHudson, thanks for that. I have turned the console off now. I thought it would show the generated g-code for editing purposes, which I am quite familiar with from using my i3 Duplicator.
