Hello people out there!
I have a problem with my Single Extruder Robox and I hope you can help me out.
Yesterday I was printing normally with my Robox (I was in the same room) when a really loud noise, it sounded like an explosion, occured next to me coming seemingly from INSIDE of the machine!
The printer continued printing normally and showed no signs of damage. I was really shocked at this moment, the bang was so loud that my ear was a little bit deaf. I quickly looked everywhere but couldnt find the source of the issue. After half an hour I left the room and looked after the print every few minutes but for hours everything seemed normal.
After about 4 hours I checked again and the print itself slipped away behind the bed, leaving the print head printing in mid air. I canceled the print which was almost finished and inspected the Robox. It seems that a small component on the mainboard just exploded. My guess is that I might be responsible for the heating of the printbed, it cooled off slowly and then the print slipped away.
I tried to start a new print but the bed wont heat up and I got an error message saying that the sensor for the printbed temperature has failed. What can I do now? Any suggestions? My printer is out of warranty btw.
PS: Here you can see some photos of the mainboard where “the explosion” must have happened.

I have never seen a fuse explode like that before.
I operate two Betas and four Production Robox.

Capacitor explosions can be very very loudy.
Good luck mate!

April 14, 2018 at 6:34 pm #47741@juan15pablo There aren’t any capacitors on that circuit. There are two fuses, the one that exploded and the red plastic looking part next to it. The one that exploded may have had a defect. That part is pretty large and I can imagine that in the enclosed volume of the printer it would make a loud noise.
